While this may be somewhat true, I was hoping to mimic his settings if he's really having that great of performance.

As others have said, unless you have a 4770k, 4790k or the i5 version(And overclocked) you probably wont be able to mimic my settings. Can we get your computer specs please.

System specs:
Processor: Intel Core i7 - 2600K, 4000MHz
Motherboard: Asus P8P67 Pro
Memory: 16GB DDR3 (4x 4GB)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6970 x2 (Crossfire enabled)

I feel like I should be able to run this perfectly fine, but it's very choppy. Perfect example is on the training mission. When facing Jabba's Palace and the city it is incredibly choppy. Turn around and face the endless sand dunes and it runs smooth as butter. However, when running smooth if I fire my cannons towards the ground the framerate drops instantly (guessing this is due to the lighting associated with each laser bolt). Frustrating but maybe someone will have a solution for me. Confused

Your i7 is 2 generations old it won't give you good performance on this game. RS needs a haswell at a high clock speed and even then you get lag at times (Look at my specs I still get lag at times). This and RS 3 are the most demanding games on Dolphin atm in my mind.

My laptop has a 2720QM and gives me a good performance except on 1 or 2 maps that has frame drops. Most maps running at 50-60 fps

Exactly my point. I'm sure not everyone here that claims to be running the game at a fairly solid performance has systems far better than mine. While my system is a few years old, at the time it was a fairly top of the line system. I can still run any PC game I play at max settings. I understand how emulators work, and how processor intensive they can be, but it seems unlikely that my system would warrant not even being able to run this game at a decent framerate.

I feel like I have to be missing something, either there's a version of dolphin that is most compatible with this game that I'm not using, or it's the settings within the emulator that are not correct. Does anyone have any sugguestions for me?

EFB2RAM off and/or the CPU clock override set much lower (e.g. 50%) may give you a large performance boost on lower-end systems. I was able to play most of RS2/3 at full speed with a combination of the two on my Ivy Bridge laptop.

Being able to run pc games at max settings has nothing to do with how well dolphin can run something. My surface can run pc games but I don't bother using it for dolphin because it has performance issues after throttling.

Just drop your emulated clockspeed like Fiora said then you will get smooth performance forgot about that feature.

Also what is your Inernal resolution set to? I run all my games a 6x ir but I have to run RS at 4x to keep fps up.

I've been running Dolphin at my native resolution of 1920x1080. I'll play with that as well.

Any recommendation on a particular version of dolphin to use? Just the latest development build available at https://dolphin-emu.org/download/ ?

Would you mind explaining what the advantages/disadvantages of HLE vs LLE audio? It seems like the majority of the people in this thread wish that HLE audio worked better (because of crashes and such), but through a lot of the later pages in the thread people are saying to use LLE.

lle is more demanding on your processor if I use HLE I get perfect 60 all the time in all levels but in the lates dev builds HLE audio is broken for music. So Fioras build has working HLE audio but it crashes on 3 levels.
