Yeah I tested this phire's build with the Opening Yavin mission and it's better in that it shows the planet and death star, but after that it will only draw tiles far in the background but the near distance is still a problem, so the game is not playable

No it's all playable Smile

It's just in this thread https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-implementing-zfreeze-the-program?page=3

I was told it would be bad if I posted my build because it would go against the license agreement and I'm new around here so I don't want to go stepping on toes or anything

NanoByte, to share a .exe with GPL licence you must provide the source code, upload it to GitHub and problem solved.

ok so commit my code and then I can provide a zip of the build or do people have to wait until the code is reviewed and pulled into the project and the autobuild makes a revision build for it?

So confused on the process lol, is there not FAQ for code collaboration? Smile

If you provide a zip of the source code and whatnot, that's good enough just to release an EXE.

I'm guessing that this is similar to neobrain's implementations, in which only one use of zfreeze (there appear to be 3 uses) will be actually working.

I've tried nanobytes build but won't be sharing it as he'll be releasing it soon.

sadly it's not quite there yet.

the in game menu doesn't work and just locks up dolphin.
fps are a bit random and there is stuttering.
sound not quite perfect in LLE.
corrupt screens in between some menu selections.
opening up gfx options causes main menu to go all flickery, only way to correct it is to enable xfb or restart dolphin and don't open gfx options.

tested on;

windows 8.1 x64
gtx 860m 2gb
4810qm

still needs lots of fixing up before it's "proper" playable. maybe i'm just being picky, but it was still pretty broken for me.

The game works fine for me. The game requires XFB in the menus, that's always been known. The corruption between menu screens can happen with virtual XFB, but should mostly work on realXFB. The Sound not being perfect on LLE is likely due to slowdown. Same with the stuttering, LLE causes slowdown like no other. You can use HLE if you want if you're willing to mute the music in the options; will make the framerate a lot better.

Edit: The garbage between screens doesn't happen with EFB2RAM + RealXFB for me.

Also, it's pretty silly to complain about it locking up without Virtual XFB on when it's in the default config.

Now, as a significant problem that basically makes the game harder/impossible to play, you can't pause or use the targeting computer in this game. Both of those features work in RS3, though.
