hi all,
um i have an issue with this game:

Star Fox Assult, the PAL version
the game is a redumped version (i checked it via nkit tool)

when i go to boot it via the deafult settings it crashes on quits on boot when using
JIT ARM64 as CPU core

but in retroarch's dolphin core however it loads up fine via this cpu core,

so what's the issue here that cuases the game to crash in dolphin dev on JIT ARM64,
but in retroarch's dolphin core it works fine with no crashes?

any fix?

thanx

Try the North American version. It works great with the official build.

hmm, i'll give that version a try, offical bulid you mean the one on the playstore of the dev?

seems strange fr the PAL version of starfox assault to not work, while adventures works fine,

i checked the settings for assault in retroarch's dolhin core, and they seem to have diffrent things enabled/disbaled
from the settings in the standlone dolphin.

i wonder if i copy these settings from retroarch file into dolphin's assault file in standalone dolphin, maybe then it might work on PAL?

also, if i use the US version of assault, my save is put into the US folder and doesn't format the memroycard like on a real system?

if you have a memeory card with PAL saves on it, and you add a NA save, it formats the card?

thanx for the info, LG Fanatic

Yes, the playstore and development builds in the dolphin website.

You could try the game setting from retroarch and see if it works.

Dolphin keeps separate memory cards of each region.  A save from the NA version will not affect the PAL version's save file.

yeah, i could try to use the settings from the retro arch config, but i tried the NTSC version of assault,
and it worked 100% no issues, videos, gameplay everything played exactly like it should and it felt like i was playing the game on my wii,
im amazed at how well it played,

weird why the nstc verion works 100% over the 0 - 10% of the PAL version, but if it works it works,
and that's good enough for me Smile

in the dev bulid it  lagged a little in gameplay, but videos and such were fine,
in MMJ bulid (11453), it played perfectly 100%, that's just amazing, maybe it's the 10 FPS less or more that the NTSC verion has over the PAL? i dunno, why this is.

many PAL GC games havee this issue, of not working, and i dunno why this is,
also the nstc saves are in seperate folders from the other region saves, that is good.

but a weird issue that i found was:

if you name the game name to: Star fox assault.nkit.iso
dolphin emu sees it has the PAL version (GF7P01),
but when i named it Star fox Assault US.Nkit.iso,
dophin saw it as the NTSC version (GF7E01),

also, when i went to save the game after renaming it to starfox assault, the game couldn't save and said that
"the memory card is different from that which you started the game with"

how can i rename it to show up as the US verion in dolphin and to also show up in reset colletion?
reset colletion needs the games to be named as matching the names form gametitle db.

are the names from the redump.dat file the ones to use for naming gc games? eg US verions etc?

i'll use the us verion instead of the non working pal, since it acutally works 100%.

This is most likely a cache invalidation problem. If you clear Dolphin's cache, it should be detected correctly by the game list.

yeah, i removed the old game data from my device and cleared the cache and now it works,
it added in the us version with the proper redmup name Smile

also what counts as data cache for dolphin emu?

what is deleted when you clear data cache on dolphin?

on the dev the images are gone when you clear cache and need to either be on wifi to redownload them
or copy paste them from MMJ version.

The shader cache, the shader UID cache, the cache of game metadata for the game list, and (as you discovered) automatically downloaded game covers.

the issue with dolphin seeing the PAL verion of assault instead of the NTSC even when i was running the NTSC version, i had removed the PAL from my sd card,
is that the old the cache of game metadata for the game list was on the system, once i rmeoved it,
the emulatour saw and registered the correct game metadata game list.

pretty cool, and pretty werid for dolphin to register incorret game info if the old cache is still present,
well now i know how it works, so removing cache is good for adding new versions/diffrent regions into dolphin.

clever emulatour dolphin is hehe.
and a tough one to managed with all the settings for games and such.. but very powerful and special for gc/wii games.
im very impressed that my moble device can even run the games which are hard to emulate elsewaise

it's something that i have been wanting to do for years now, and now i can do thanx to andriod and dolphin emulatour run gc/wii games portably it's great Smile
