So I've just upgraded to 3.5 and using the LLE option, to get the soundtrack to play, now produces a terrible sound, like a constant, single pitch tone, no music.. Huh

Does anyone else get this, just to confirm it's not something I'm doing wrong..

So the "Sun Slowdown" problem...

Sun Slowdown

Any time the in game sun is on screen, slowdown occurs on weaker systems. Enabling "Skip EFB Access to CPU" can alleviate this, but it breaks many effects and it is not recommended.

...was added to this game in 2011. In theory because the performance impact of the sun on screen was so great as to make the game unplayable. That was 4 years ago now, can anyone comment if the performance impact of "Skip EFB Access from CPU = Off" is still great enough to merit recommending enabling "Skip EFB Access from CPU"?

It should be removed.

This game is a bit demanding. That is all. I mean if we recommend it here then we should recommend it for a lot of other games too Tongue

They may not be a texture; they could just be solid colors or line-width effects.

A weird problem I'm facing.  I boot the game and then it gets stuck on the "Checking for Memory Card in Slot A" screen with the exclamation point.  It never gets past that screen.  Another game it happens to is SSX Tricky.  However with Tricky, it gives you a screen where it tells you there's no memory card and you can press 'A' to play the game without saving, so at the very least you can play the game without saving.   The thing is though, I do have a memory card.  In configuration->Gamecube i have tried both "Memory Card" and "GCI Folder" methods.  In both methods every other game works.  For instance I have a cleared save for Resident Evil, and RE reads the card and loads it just fine.  It only seems to affect these 2 games.  SSX On Tour works reads and saves on the card fine as well.

Using the latest build 5.0-4869.  I've also tested this with many previous builds including some that go way back (5.0-2*** etc) and the same thing happens.

Edit:  Found the culprit.  One of my save files was probably corrupted.  Made a new formatted card, then started importing one by one the saves until the corrupted save was isolated.  Removed that save and the games read it fine.

I hadn't played SSX 3 on a dev build before I updated to the latest dev build, but on the stable 5.0 release I only got the occasional bit of lag where the native console would lag too which wasn't so bothersome. Normally the game runs at a steady 60 FPS with the odd few frame drops.

But since updating to the latest dev build the FPS drops to 50-odd in menus and during some gameplay segments, which can be a little annoying. I'm not sure what could be causing the issue.

Also, have any fixes been found for the vertical lines in the FMV sequences besides the software render one? Software render definitely slows things down too much for my liking.

As someone who's made a few texture packs for this game, I can safely say that some menu assets aren't textures and can't be dumped.  You'd have to reverse-engineer the game completely to do that, and some talented people I know have given it a try and have made zero progress.
