Your computer is probably too slow.

Quote:I have no idea about my specs or anything, so if you need to know them you'll have to look it up, sorry... I have an emachines E525.
Well, that doesn't help. There's a dozen of EMachines 525 models.
You'll have to give us your specs.

You can use a free tool called Speccy to check what your specs are.
List your CPU (process) and GPU (graphics card).

I started it up no problem, getting a reasonable frame rate, but then the opening title came on and it slowed right down. My brother suggested lowering the resolution, so I tried minimum resolution along with the suggestions given on the website, and booted the game up again- It bumped me right up to 40-odd FPS for the first section, then *BAM* back to 0-2 fps. I think I got 4 once.

can anybody tell me what on earth is going on?

I think if you want an answer, you will have to look it up.

You haven't listed any Dolphin revision or settings (or PC specs), so list all of that and someone may attempt to help you.

I got a problem with some sort of glitch with anistropic filtering or resolutions. Oblique angles on textures, most visibly ground textures in areas you can run through, turns black as the distance from the camera increases. This problem gets progressively worse with lower internal resolutions or lower anti-aliasing settings, but anistropic filtering does not affect it at all.

I took this screenshot with the lowest resolution and anti-aliasing settings so it becomes more evident, but it's still important to note that the problem does not get solved even with 4x Internal Resolution and anti-aliasing cranked all the way up.

Disable Fog also have no visible effect on this particular issue (it doesn't change my game experience at all, actually).

Any help?

you know, I didn't even see this post.
I shouldn't be allowed on the internet when I'm tired.

I'm surprised at that, I've done all sorts with it and it's never been too slow for anything before...
I don't know what is is either. If I did, I would have said.

nice and blunt there.

ok, if the admins can delete accounts, they might as well delete mine. I don't need it any more, and I don't want to take up unnecessary space.

I have exactly the same problem, not only here. I experience it in Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut too. To solve it, play Sonic Adventure 2 Battle using the Dolphin 3.0-688 build, or older. Because of this I'm still using the 688.
If you want, check out my thread about this glitch you have. I haven't seen any solutions yet, but I mean that you're not the only one, who has this problem.: Shining glitch

Good to know that's not only me. I'll keep an eye out for this thread and your one, too. Thanks for the advice.

If you have Drezus' problem with black faraway textures in Sonic Adventure DX Director's Cut, or Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (and there may be more games, where the problem exists), you'd better use the 3.0-688 build for these games.
If you don't have this problem with the latest builds, you don't have to care about what's written below. Not all people experience this problem in the different computers they use.

The 688 is the last, that contains the fast-mipmaps option, which is required for both Sonic Adventure-games. Even in the 688, if you don't enable fast-mipmaps, faraway textures will appear with a black color.
