For those freezes, try disabling Dual Core mode. If I recall correctly, this game has always had random freezes, at least when I played it on Dolphin 3.5 waaay back when.

Still freezes, tried turning on and off a number of things, still the same.
I have played through the JP version and the USA version plenty times with 5.0 stable and never had any gamebreaking problems. The game always runs at a constant 30 fps/ 100 speed for me (except for a very few scenes where it slightly drops momentarily).
Did try re-ripping the game? Maybe it is a bad rip problem? Please try playing with dual-core disabled and checking "skip EFB access to CPU", as that fixed a severe vps/fps problem I had with certain scene early in the game. i never used safe states ! the game has no frame drops on my pc stable 31 frames
from beginning until the ice part level it freezes ! i tried difrent settings nothing stil the same i can fight the monster in the sky the spider looking monster no problems ! than wen i finish i can see where the entrance is to the ice land when i get closer my ship just stops for no reason ! propellors are stil spinning music etc ! but i cant move i tried difrent angles ! nothing this realy sucks i want to finish the game please help / i tried difrent iso's same thing only the pal version of course my safe game wont load ! 10-18-2017, 12:55 AM
Here's an idea, post a copy of your GameCube memory card file, or just export the .GCI for Skies of Arcadia. One of us can play the game a little bit past the point where it freezes for you, then we can upload the new save for you to use.

This game runs fine, without any freezes. By any chance, did you check the "speed up disk transfer rate" at game properties? If so, uncheck it.

so I've been seeing an interesting effect in this game ever since the mipmap heuristic was added in 5745, namely, that whenever I use CPU texture decoding, the mipmap transitions for this game are all FAR too close to the camera, switching to GPU texture decoding fixes it though.
all I can think of is that the mipmaps in this game are different enough from each other that they trigger the heuristic into seeing them as different textures, which, having looked at them, they really DO look really different. 02-12-2018, 09:54 PM
Does anyone know what emulation issues this game has? Because the wiki lists is compatibility as 4/5 stars.

I think you have to use single core, or else the game crashes.
I've contemplated trying to do sound swaps, but there isn't enough space to store the superior DC voices and music, so you'd have to create two ISOs -- one with files and music for the first half of the game, and one with files and music for the second half of the game, so that it effectively becomes a 2 disc game. Figuring out which files you can safely delete to split the game into 2 discs would be a rather tedious task, though, assuming there's a way to do it at all. 02-13-2018, 12:36 PM
