What are some of the Dolphin settings that you have tried? Post them as screenshots preferably.

Hmm, everything looks in order. You could try setting your Framelimit to Audio or 30, it might help.
Zackattack, yeh, download the latest GIT revision of Dolphin (3.5-1045) from the Download link at the top of this page and change these settings:
Disable Scaled EFB copy Disable Ignore Format Changes Disable "Disable Per-Pixel Depth" I use EFB to RAM with the Texture Cache Accuracy = Safe, but if this causes the game to run slow, leave it how you had it before. I personally tested these settings on 3.5-491 and was able to play the game fine with no hangs or freezes. You might need to use the OpenAL audio backend on your machine. This may help with your problem. This backend is available on the latest GIT revisions. This game needs the new AX HLE, so Dolphin 3.5 official will freeze and crash. You have to use a newer version. 03-18-2013, 08:07 PM
@Skid
Using Dolphin 3.4-1045 with the suggested options turned off improved the situation but didn't solve the problem. The game doesn't freeze at random anymore - only in combat situations. Sometimes while entering combat or after using a special move the game locks up. Music and animations continue but otherwise combat does not progress. @Shonumi I tested different versions (3.5/-1034/-1045) and changed the framelimit but could not detect a significant change 03-18-2013, 08:10 PM
Did you try using the OpenAL backend?
Did you leave it on EFB to Texture or did you change it to EFB to RAM? 03-24-2013, 11:44 AM
Hello, I was wondering if I could get some help. I have been having problems with SoA where the speed just slows down to like 60% and is just unbearable. Either it slows or just completely freezes. I am using the same setting as Zackattack and have tried many other things to fix it. The slowing down of the speed is the thing that's the most annoying. The freeze rarely happens. Any suggestions?

I hope you guys noticed that D3D11 does not work with this game at all now that D3D11 is being used as the default backend

Yeah, as I've heard, D3D11 doesn't like to play nice with this game. You can stick to older revisions or switch to D3D9 or OpenGL manually (via .ini files or changing it during gameplay probably). D3D9 will eventually become obsolete, so hopefully more effort can be given to OGL and D3D11 in the future.
