If anybody worldwide just stumbled upon this thread in search for optimal Doplhin settings summary to achieve TOP quality and TOP performance along (just like I did) for Skies of Arcadia Legends this post will hopefully save you hours of experimenting and reading (like I hoped for).

This is for Dolphin 5.0 with my HW specs so you know it may vary as much as your configuration varies. I took some hints from above into consideration though I haven't read through 460 post of mostly outdated remarks.

Of course I am very open to corrections from more experienced users. I actually wish for some.

I don't think that 8x SSAA is the best use of your gpu! Why not go down to 2x SSAA and play at 1080p?

I am glad you asked. First let me point out it is posible to go 8xSSAA@1080p without any performance drop or hiccups noticable on my end. So that might be called best use of GPU (although I believe AA puts stress on your HW and Internal Resolution rather to the emulation process itself).

However there is a deliberate reason behind choosing 720p for me. I am not a huge fan of supersharp edges on low-res textures and this game's textures are nowhere near hi-res. Using lower than native resolution forces the output to be upscaled in natural way which has a side effect of smoothing out edges. This is also very noticable on font sprites which are jaggy on native resolution but on 720p the edges are a bit smoother and blend better within the overal blurry texture details. I know there are many who prefer supersharp resolution with lo-res textures just because quality of their own sight itself blurs everythiing so they don't see the outcome supersharp anyway.

Here goes comparison:

2xSSAA@1080p
8xSSAA@720p

2xSSAA@1080p
8xSSAA@720p

On the Wiki there is a combined widescreen Gecko code that fixes screen edge culling and unstretches the HUD. The culling fix is great! The HUD unstretching not so much. It causes a lot of issues with menus and certain effects that use the HUD. Would it be possible to split the code into two?

Code:

You can enable the audio stretching setting. But note that this will only get rid of the audio crackling, not the audio slowdown.

Hello, friends. I have a question that nobody has been able to answer and I am at the end of my rope. I don't think this is exactly the best place to ask this question, but I don't know where else to turn and maybe someone here can help.

I'm trying to get the sound effects from Skies of Arcadia. The entire contents of the disc are easily extracted, and indeed there are many sounds contained within the /sound folder. However, all these sounds are of a very specific type -- say, ship battles, evil laughter, someone yelling as they power up. But the standard sound effects, like an attack, or a door opening, they are all missing and I can't find them anywhere. They must be there, obviously, because the game plays fine and the sounds are there.

I know I could just record the audio. It'd take some time to explain why I'm specifically trying to get the sound effects via this method. I figure that, if people have hacked the game in a way that allows replacement textures and such, surely these sound effects have at some time been identified.

Thanks for any guidance.
