Using 3.5 (and this has plagued me since I have been using Dolphin - pre 3.0), I cannot seem to get full speed in outdoor areas. I can get full speed on almost all games (and if not full speed, damn close). But for RE4, I am getting 65-75% speed outdoors or if it is raining. I use no AA and used Native res so I believe Dolphin to be CPU limited. Does this game still require LLE or can newer AX revs use HLE?

If I need to use LLE, any performance hacks or recommendations? (I should note that I use Safe Texture Cache, Virtual XFB and EFB to RAM) and perhaps those arent needed? I also do not use LLE on Thread because it has issues in some games. Can that be used here?

Anything would be helpful. My system is overclocked to its limits. (system specs in sig)

You do not need virtual XFB at all for this game. That alone will KILL your performance. I don't even know of any games that need it, although I'm sure there are at least some that do. Disable this first.

You do not need EFB->RAM except for the parts where you use the infrared scope to fight the regenerators/iron maidens. Use EFB->Texture the rest of the time. You can mitigate the performance hit of EFB->RAM by setting "Enable Cache".

If you use 3.5-78 or later, that has the new DSP HLE (AX) for GC games and you will not need LLE DSP. For the Wii version you would need 3.5-1154 or later as that version has new DSP HLE (AXWii) for Wii games.

I've personally played all the way through this game multiple times on far inferior hardware, and while I don't get full speed outdoors either, there's no reason you shouldn't get full speed with your rig.

EDIT: also your "accurate texture cache" can be set to Fast or in the middle. You don't need Safe for RE4 GC or Wii. But you DO need at least Fast.

Fantastic! Thanks Nameless Mofo. I was confused when I saw:

No
So perhaps that was just a misunderstanding. I will disable XFB and use the middle section of the Texture Cache Accuracy and try HLE.

With Dolphin 3.5 HLE has multiple issues. LLE is the best choice
With new AX-HLE (as of 3.5-78) most sound issues are fixed.

Btw with your rig you should be able to use LLE Big Grin

Tell me about it but for whatever reason (probably the reasons Nameless-Mofo mentioned) I have a tough time with this game.

What Lordvador said is true, your rig should be good to go for LLE. I would try changing one thing at a time starting with disabling XFB. That alone may be enough. For me the worst slowdown spot was near the village exit, where you ride the "ski lift" down to the boss fight area. If you get full speed there you should get full speed everywhere. Hope that helps.

OMG, that is EXACTLY where I am...lol

And yes, I was getting a low frame rate. Will try the items you mentioned probably this weekend.

Resident evil 4 GC version is cool. it's one of my favorite games. But I have found it runs better (the frame rate) on dolphin 3.0 than on 3.5.
Do you agree? how to optimize? Buddy

It's pretty normal.

Moreover if your system is a bit weak 3.0 will always look faster than 3.5 . Tell us what your specs are as Zee530 asked you to
