The development builds are better than 4.0.2 in pretty much every case. Just make sure that both of you are using the same development build.

We tried a couple of dev builds but netplay kept crashing the emulator once it got to the splash screens, sadly.

It sounds like the game generated different maps for both of you. If you were hosting the game, were you also playing as player 1? It's possible that PSO may not work with netplay, since each client will probably choose its own set of maps upon starting the game, and I'm not sure if netplay has a way to synchronise that.

I guess a better question would be: why don't the two of you just play online together? The game will work properly that way, you'll get better performance, you'll be able to play quests, you won't have to deal with cramped screens and menus, and you'll be able to be in separate areas simultaneously.

That's entirely possible. Yeah I was hosting and was player 1.

I thought all the PSO servers were offline now? If there's a way to play online then count me in!

There are multiple private servers, and it's pretty easy to connect to any of them, as they all have their own DNS redirects. When you configure the BBA within Dolphin, simply set DNS 1 to the IP address of a DNS server that will send you to the server you want to use, and then you'll automatically connect when you select online mode. Just remember that you need to install the OpenVPN TAP driver and bridge it with your physical network adapter in order to use Dolphin's online capabilities (as well as enable the BBA for SP1 in Dolphin's GC configuration page).

In theory netplay is meant to prevent any sort of non-deterministic behaviour, so the PRNG for both machines would behave identically. But in reality there's a lot of things that netplay misses that can lead to desyncs.

Hello all. I am attempting to get PSO Episode I&II working online through BBA but am encountering many difficulties. Any help would be appreciated. I have followed all guides and gotten it to the point where the game says I am "online" in the website/buy hunter's licence part of the options. However, depending on my configuration I either get error 15 (when trying "Automatically obtain an IP address(DHCP)) or error 102 when manually setting an IP address. There I am using:

IP address: 192.168.1.12
Subnet Mask 255.2555.255.0
Default Gateway 192.168.1.1, and setting primary DNS to whatever private servers I am trying to connect to.

When I originally set this up I was crashing on "Connecting to DNS Server", but uninstalling my hyperv virtual switch, reverting to 4.0-6018 x64, and reinstalling/bridging TAP seemingly solved that issue for now.

Any advice on how to proceed? Thanks in advance.

edit: here are threads with similar issues, I just don't know how or if they resolved their issues.

What is the IP address of your PC? You need to only edit the last number to an address not used on your network at present, e.g. if your PC is 192.168.1.50, you would want to set Dolphin to 192.168.1.51, assuming *.51 isn't used by something else. It's also worth noting that not all servers have functional DNS servers to perform the redirect, so the problem may not be on Dolphin's end, depending upon which server you're trying to use.

You're using a memory card .raw file and not a GCI folder, right? I found that I couldn't go online if I used a GCI folder, because PSO always said the network file was corrupt. Using a .raw file works, though.

The network bridge's ip is 192.168.1.207 and yes IP address: 192.168.1.12 is unused on my network, and I am using a .raw as well. I have also verified md5 on my iso. Thanks for the heads up on the dns redirect issue, maybe I need to register my keys to slyverant to try to connecting to them. Been trying to connect to l33tserv and scchthack.

You can test whether the connection works without registering: you'll get kicked off if you're unregistered, but receiving that message means you did in fact connect.
