I just thought I'd add that my tests with 4.0-2826 indicate that EFB to RAM is no longer needed (at least in the PAL version), although this has probably been the case for many revisions. I get correct graphics with "Ignore Format Changes" enabled, EFB to Texture, and "External Frame Buffer" disabled, so I guess someone can cross PSO off the list of games that need EFB to RAM to fix the missing text problem. (The FMV also seems to work with these settings.) The text problem is still not totally gone, but it's far better than it used to be (see attachment). The text is supposed to say "Type: FOnewearl", but the "F" is almost always missing. I've also noticed that the letter "J" is often absent (particularly for the lowercase j) in NPC text, but at least 99% of the text is always visible now, compared to old revisions where 90% of it was invisible.

It doesn't even work when the EFB to RAM cache is disabled entirely, let alone when it's enabled. It isn't a major problem; I just thought I'd post an update since the wiki still says that you need EFB to RAM, even though that no longer seems to be the case.

Phantasy Star Online Ep.1 & 2 segfaults when you get to Ruins in the Soul of Steel quest in the 2nd room just before a chaos bringger in Ultimate Difficulty. And also randomly segfaults in Ruin 2 or Ruins 3 in Ultimate Difficulty. I'm using Dolphin 4.0-3395. Slackware 14.1 Nvidia Geforce 430 GT driver 340.24. I have never crashed when playing Ultimate on 4.0.2, but I haven't tried Ultimate on any of the development versions since then.

I don't know how. @Aleron Ives - It only happens in Ruins 2 or Ruins 3 in Ultimate and it's not everytime with the only exception being the Soul of Steel quest. There it segfaults everytime. Have you tried 4.0.2 or older development versions to see if there are any versions where it doesn't happen? As far as I can tell, the Dark Bringer should not appear in the second room when you first enter it. After you clear the first two waves of enemies, the door should open. The Dark Bringer should only appear when you return to that room from the other direction (by pressing the two pink switches to open the other door to the second room). Is this when it crashes, or does it crash the first time you enter the second room in Ruins 3? If it crashes the first time, can you kill any of the enemies or open the door to the next room before it crashes?
Have you tried checking the checksum of your ISO to make sure you got an accurate dump? If some of the Ultimate Ruins files are corrupt, that would explain why it only crashes in Ultimate, as Ultimate uses different area and enemy skins from Normal, Hard, and Very Hard modes. Corrupt files would therefore be the most likely explanation for your problem only occurring in Ultimate. 10-09-2014, 12:27 PM
