later again in Chapter 2 where the gold thing in the sewers under the castle calls for help of the black thingies (I'm talking about the dungeon where you ahve to get the Moon and Sun stones in order to enter tha dragon's castle later)).

yea i'm at that part (and can't continue cuz whenever it enters a battle with those black fuzzies it crashes ), and that is why i'm asking for help about the saving of the game

Otherwise, the game works fine, except:
- there are graphical glitches related to some 3D animations in cutscenes. For example, the bridge building anhimation in Chapter 1 is broken visually.
- some characters don't appear (happens when there are multiples of same sprites, probably; see beginning of the game, when the X guys sends many enemies to attack;

yep i get those

- sometimes the game crashes randomly. Happens about once an hour of gameplay and doesn't happen in that place again after that (it must be unrelated of location and player actions).

well i get that too, but at least i can continue the game after all those messages pass

Most problems are related to sound, it seems. When you get Flurrie into your party and go to the Great Tree, you blow air from the root in order to uncover the secret entrance. At this point FPS decreases dramatically and then the game gives a million errors. If you keep blowing air, everything crashes with another million errors.

But I disabled sound and was able to pass that part with ease (although slowdown was still pretty big and the effects with which the sercet entrance was opening were pretty glitchy).

hmm i haven't tried disabling the audio to see if it doesn't crash

Hi, first time newbie post..

My daughter just loved paper mario N64.. she just finished playing it last week. Shes only 7 1/2, ad its the first game she played start to finish (other games she just dabbles in and gets bored). Im AMAZED she can solve many of the puzzles there and do the battles and stuff. Had to help her of course in finishing the game with some of the more difficult puzzles, and with the reading parts. (it even encourages her to practice reading!)

Anyway, we so loved paper mario and i googled for any sequels and found out about the GC sequel. Its my first time to dl Dolphin and a GCROM.

Luckily, i just recently upgraded to a dual core PC so it can handle it.. and more luckily, Dolphi just had a recent release so i got the latest ver. Browsing thru previous posts, a lot of folks say its unplayable in the first few minutes when they meet the prof. The new Dolphin version solved that already so we can play on from that point!

Just some comments/questions on the gameplay so far...

1. Encounter LOTS of Freezes and hangs... so we SAVE a lot.. using all F1 to F10 save slots practically every room change so we can recover when it hangs.

2. Like the previous posts, as mentioned, problem with the Professor opening the Gate is SOLVED. But Mario and partner change into a weird blank shape when going thru pipes.. its only temporary tho.

3. Like the mentioned post above, game also froze when i saw those X-nauts in the dungeon.. froze several times, but i just kept reloading until somehow i got thru it. Did the same trick several times further in the game when it hangs/freezes... i can somehow always continue.

4. Here's where i almost got stomped, and i didnt see this error/problem posted before (in my googling). When I got the 2nd curse, to turn into Paper, doing it turns Mario into double his size, only his shape is seen and the color is sky and clouds (!). It was obvious i was supposed to turn into Paper so i can slip into the prison bars, but I cant bec of his weird shape/glitch so i thought i was stuck. (couldnt get out of the prison bars) Anyone else enountered this or is it just with my PC..lol..

Anyway I tried something and to my amazement it worked.. i changed Dolphin GFX settings and checked all the settings.. use WIREFRAME, disable xxx, etc. So the game turned into a wireframe and i WALKED outside the prison bars (i can see the foosteps) It worked!! Once Im out I returned the settings to normal. Did this TWICE. The 3rd time i needed to turn into paper (on the wooden walkway where i had to slip thru the fence to get into the Airplane platform) I didnt have to do that, Mario slipped thru even with his "Giant Shape with sky/clouds form"

Anyway, just sharing this in case someone else got stuck.

Finished Chapter One (Defeated HookTai and recovered the 1st Crystal Starl), Saw the Princess Peach scene and the Bowser scene.

We're in the next Chapter (Chapter 2? not sure) so .. so far so good.. Hope we can still play it longer and hopefully all the way thru... any reports on anyone having done so in Dolphin?

Lastly, the post above,

seemed to indicate someone made it that far, since we havent seen Flurrie yet.. (is she the 3rd, 4th, or nth party member?) Thats good news at least... I wonder if that gamer (Zober) encountered the same glitch I did with the Paper power/curse.... and did the same solution/fix...

i am stuck in this game for now dont know how i can bypass it, what happens and where:
in the tree area of boggly woods when i already got flurry.
i get a red key to free the puni elder but when i use the key on the door it just zooms in on it and nothing else ever happens(not even an error it just hangs there)
tried some diff settings but it stays the same..
anyone had this problem as well? if so any tips to solving this would be nice

it has to be connected to that fact , because i re checked what happened in-game and the small puni that follows the party...Dissapears when i use the key...

And yes, I am using OpenGl..

In WindowsXP, I tried the DolphinDirect3D9 plug in, but the colors came out weird and the characters are INVISIBLE.. u can only see their eyes (!) so im using OpenGl...

I Windows Vista (I have dual boot) there is only the OpenGl plugin available (I guess bec it has DirectX10 already)

Is something wrong with using OpenGl and is there a better plugin? I dl'd the link to the Plugin_OldVideoDX9.dll but it still shows invisible characters. (maybe its my gfx card.. i have onboard ATI Radeon HD 3200)

Anyway, im fine with OpenGl for now.. even with the random crashes and glitches using Paper power etc.. unless of course someone can recommend a better plugin..

no,i was talking a bout the grahics and i think i said it wrong because the problems are with:
when flurrie blows something away
when vivian attacks
when mario uses paper powers
