Yes, as of my message I was on Dolphin 5.0-14860, there is a new dev version that I'll try, but it seems it'll make no difference. You're probably right about my gpu being the issue, though I hoped that a Mac from late 2015 would have sufficed on the hardware end of things.

Hey, whats the difference between the "macOS (ARM/Intel Universal)" download of Dolphin and the "macOS (Intel)" version? I'm grasping at straws hoping that I simply used the wrong one.

The Intel version is optimized for Intel CPU Macs (most Macs), whereas the universal one is optimized both for Intel Macs and the very recently released ARM CPU Macs. The Intel build is about to be phased out soon, as the universal build is better for those new ARM CPU Macs and has no real disadvantages for other Macs, so pick the universal build if you're unsure. But it looks like you have an Intel CPU, so in your case it doesn't really matter which one you use.

When replaying the beginning of the game (which I had been doing over and over hoping for a miracle while messing with the settings) and right after the ocean shot with the title where the boat goes off screen to the right I get a white screen, which is supposed to transition to mario getting dropped off, but the game freezes on that white screen. I got a notification saying something like, "Invalid read from PC" followed by a bunch of 0's and the options to "Ignore for this session." What causes this message to appear? Is it probably a hardware issue still or maybe a setting? I would love if my problems with playing ttyd was as simple as a graphic setting being incorrectly enabled or disabled. But as everday goes by, a legit gaming rig is looking more tempting.

If that's happening at that specific point, yep, it's the Bounding Box emulation biting again. It generally causes graphical glitches, crashes, softlocks or invalid read errors when the game tries to use the feature when it's not available or disabled...

Okay, this is a bit weird, and I'm asking because I'm wondering if this'll cause issues down the road.
You know that "Professor Frankly Gate Hang" error that's been reported numerous times? Well, I had the same thing happen...except it *didn't* hang there! I was able to enter the Sewers. But I had an error message. I'd think that if there weren't any issue there with Bounding Box or whatever, there wouldn't be an error message. What I want to know is: how bad is this? Should I take steps to fix it, or can I just ignore it most likely? EDIT: Oh yeah, I did have "Disable Bounding Box" checked in the Graphics options menu, but I'd think that the game's .ini file would override that, and doesn't it have "Enable Bounding Box" on by default? Oh wait, did it matter if I didn't have the game loaded up in the GUI, from like, the game paths menu, such that I could get to the game's Properties? Does the game's .ini file get loaded in this case? 12-18-2021, 03:12 PM
Disclaimer: I am a bit of a noob when it comes to emulation
I have been trying to play thousand year door, but when I try to start a game it doesn't allow me to create a new save slot or play without saving. I have not had any issues with saving with other emulated GC games. I sifted through the forums for over an hour and I can't see anyone else with this issue. Is this an issues anyone else has seen/ or can help me with Thanks in advance. 01-26-2022, 10:21 PM
Hey everyone,
I've started playing Paper Mario TTYD on the latest Beta release of Dolphin (5.0-15445), on my Macbook Pro released in 2020. At first it worked fine, but now that I'm entering the big tree in chapter 2, it is glitchy. I have 10 glitchy punis following me, which is unfortunate but quite okay. The problem is that now, everytime I stumble upon an enemy and a fight initiates, the screen freezes. And I have to reboot. I don"t know what to do. I've googled for hours, and I don't find any solution. Any ideas on wtf is going on? Any mac users of Dolphin having same issues? I'm disappointed, I was starting to enjoy this game very much, I hope I'll be able to continue my game :/ 02-11-2022, 05:21 PM
Hello
I am running Dolphin 5.0-15993 on my Xbox Series S via RetroArch in dev mode. I've been able to resolve all issues except for one seemingly minor problem: No shadows are rendered in the game. This makes platforming awkward, along with trying to jump on / hammer enemies and hit save/coin blocks etc. It's an itch that I can't scratch. I know it is possible to render the shadows on an Xbox Series console because someone uploaded a video of the game with the shadows working: https://youtu.be/xYM-GwlWrNw?t=338 Does anyone know why this issue is happening? Is there a setting that I need to enable/disable? Do I need to use a different version of Dolphin? Help! I feel lonely without my shadow! 10-03-2022, 10:54 PM

Paper Mario: TTYD (pal) - Workaround for 50/60fps bug in dual core mode
Bug Description from wiki: Quote:If the PAL version of the game has been set to run at 60 Hz, it may change back to 50Hz under some circumstances. Turn off the dual core setting to avoid this issue. I found a better solution (especially for low end systems): To avoid this issue while keeping dual core setting activated: 1: start the game 2: confirm the 60hz option 3: reset emulation Some confirmation/feedback would be nice. here is a savegame. everytime i walk into room 5, the fps drops from 60 to 50. with the reset trick the fps will stay at 60. Edit: Did a new test with completely default dolphin settings. fps drops to 50 already in the title screen everytime. using the reset workaround fps stays at 60. |
