[GC] Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

I'm running TTYD from the dumped filesystem (like, not the ISO but the game's filesystem extracted into normal folders and stuff) and while playing from the ISO works perfectly, it doesn't allow for what I want to do (that being easily replacing files to experiment with the compatibility between this game and Super Paper Mario). However whenever I run the game directly from the filesystem, I always get a crash shortly after Lord Crump appears, specifically right after Goombella says "I'll scream, really!" This is normally where you regain control of Mario.
The version this occurs on is Dolphin 5.0. It does not occur on an earlier version (3.0) however I'm unable to simply transfer in-game saves nor save states between them so that means I can't even load a save after that part in 5.0. I'd like to use the same version I use for everything else in Dolphin if possible. Any idea as to why this crash even happens? My settings otherwise run the game near-flawlessly.

Dolphin's ability to run extracted discs doesn't work all that well right now. I've been working on a PR that improves it, which you can try out here: https://dl.dolphin-emu.org/prs/pr-5573-d...est-x64.7z
I don't know if it'll fix your problem for sure, but it's worth a try. Just keep in mind that you'll likely need to re-extract the disc using that version of Dolphin in order for it to detect that you're trying to run an extracted disc. (It relies on the folders being in a specific format rather than having settings for the DVD root and apploader.) 07-29-2017, 10:29 AM
Here's a little oddity I've found, I'm using the Ubershaders build of Dolphin and for most games it's working perfectly, however, I found that every now and then I'd get stutters in Paper Mario, even on Exclusive, so after a bit of testing I was able to find that these were caused by the Widescreen Gecko hacks, specifically Gecko, every single one that I've tested had the issue, the AR code widescreen hacks, however, do not have this issue, only problem is they aren't nearly as nice as the Gecko versions. I know this is a very small thing but it can be a bit jarring when it happens, if you want to test it yourself just go to petal meadows and fight some enemies, it seems to be most common right after a battle has loaded or while the coins and goodies are spawning from winning. I recorded video comparing the two as well if that would help.

Sometimes, when I'm playing the PAL version of the game, it drops from 60 fps to 50 fps and does not return to 60 unless I revert to a previous in-game save file. This makes the game slower and therefore throws me and my reaction times off. Any way to fix this? It may have to do with disabling the emulation limit and then restoring the limit during the black loading screens because I believe that's when I saw it happen. Edit: Nvm, it just seems to happen after playing the game for some time. I have a similar problem. When I boot the game I choose 60Hz, everything go 60fps, but after a while the game starts running at 50fps/50vps. If this is a new bug, I guess I'll have to submit a bug report ...
I'm having the memory card issue some others had (due to save states and all).
I've been seeking a way to fix it, but I have yet to succeed. I'm working under a few assumptions: 1. Once you save for the first time, the game registers a few identifying values for the memory card on the RAM. 2. The game keeps track of how many times you've saved 3. The game only saves if a - You've never saved, OR b - The memory card is the same one used in the last save I think my best bet is to use Action Replay or something similar to make the game believe there was never a save in the first place. But I don't know how to find the proper values in the game's memory. I can't save, so I can't keep track of the number of times saved, either. Anyone has an idea to find this value? EDIT: OK, the game does keep count of the saves, but setting it to zero does not help. The addresses are 0x003DBE0B and 0x00B1A91B. With that, I'll have to figure out the memory card identifier it registers when generating the very first save file. I'm 100% stumped on that one. 08-29-2017, 05:22 AM
My problem is similar to Intruso the fps fall from 60 to 50 fps, however the problem is that I freeze the pc and nothing responds, I have to restart it every time this happens. The version of the dolphin I use is 5.0, this did not happen with the previous version, if you can help me thank you.
PS: My English is bad, so sorry if you do not understand what I write. 08-31-2017, 05:35 AM

Try the latest master branch (now it's 5.0-5328). It should help a lot.
My specs:
Operating System: Windows 10 x64 Processor/CPU: intel I7 3770 3.4 Ghz Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GeForce 1060 6GB Memory/RAM: 16 GB Dolphin Revision Currently Using: 5.0-xxxx X64 (always the latest) and the latest Ishiiruka for custom textures. I'm still learning english. Please, be patient with me. And, if i make a mistake, please correct me, i will learn a lot this way!
I have an issue with this game that involves Koops. Whenever I try to use him in the overworld, he goes flying off! This wasn't a problem in earlier revisions of Dolphin 5.0, so why is this happening now? This issue happens when I play the game in widescreen and "standard".
Also, random switches started to appear after I did his tutorial. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1...nknown.png https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1...nknown.png I currently have version 5.0-5382 16Gb RAM AMD Radeon R9 290 3.5GHz (underclocked) |
