Great that you have Store EFB Copies to Texture Only disabled and Bounding Box enabled in the game's ini. However both settings are set to the oposite value in the graphical settings. When the game boots is used the values from the game's ini file and overrides the settings of the graphics menu. Each time you open the graphics menu the settings reverts back to the chosen settings there. So essentially the game's ini settings are not used anymore if you open the graphics menu. It is a known issue by the way and to be most likely overhauled for the next official Dolphin release.

Either set the settings in the graphics menu as suggested in the game's wiki page or don't open the graphics menu after you booted the game (just restart the game if you did open it). Why are you running this game at a Native (1x) Internal Resolution resolution? Your hardware seems capeable of running an 3x Internal Resolution for example.

I realise the graphics options are conflicting, but I felt I should still screenshot them just in case I had missed any other option. Sorry about that. I realised this when I'd finished screenshotting the configuration and noticed the issues of having Bounding Box disabled started cropping up again. Usually I just launch the game and leave the config well alone.

As for the internal resolution choice, I've mostly avoided it after a massive FPS drop very early in the game with some of the effects. I wasn't sure if it was a one-off but I am mostly just playing it safe.

Regardless of changing the internal resolution though the artifacting still appears, are you saying it's a documented issue already or is that more about the conflicting configurations?

The internal resolution part is unrelated to the issue, I was just wondering. It just so low quality at 1x, so why leave it there if you have the power for it. That's all.

As for conflicting settings and the documentation part, check out this article: https://en.dolphin-emu.org/blog/2016/06/01/dolphin-progress-report-may-2016/. Scroll to the bottom.

The option Activate Cheats in the main Dolphin Config menu (General panel) is enabled right? Widescreen codes are cheats after all. It sounds like you are using PAL? Also make sure AR codes are added as Action Replay and Gecko Codes as Gecko. You should also set the Aspect Ratio to Stretch to Windw. Automatic Aspect Ratio detection might not always work with widescreen codes.

ok, cheats are not enabeld. with stretch the aspect ratio is nearly 16:9. there are minimal black bars rigt and left. i think this is 14:9 Wink

but game runs only with 50 fps. in the beginning i select 60 hz. my should have enough power for that.

has anyone a tipp?

(on NVIDIA you need at least a GT 400 series or newer)

Ohhh ok Thanks! I really thought my GTS 250 was already a decent card Sad .

I'm looking to upgrade to a secondhand Gigabyte GTX 660ti. Big Grin
And with that hopefully I can run Dolphin 5.0 and Paper Mario with no/less problems

I've had a problem with Paper Mario TTYD recently.

I start out the game, and I get to the part where you first meet Professor Frankly and he goes to open the gate, and when he say the line like "Betcha didn't know this could open.", the scene just stops. The animations and the music still go but he doesn't open the gate and nothing happens. Anyone else encounter this? Any ideas to solve it?

This is a well-known problem that's caused by the GPU or its drivers not supporting a needed feature. In particular, no GPU drivers on OS X support it. There are some more details on the wiki page for this game, which is linked and embedded in the first post of this topic.

Yeah I know...also had the same problem. He's right, you need a better GPU... Undecided

BUTTtttt, a fix for this was to use an older stable version, 4.0.2. Everything was working fine, some lag, some slowdowns, but hey it very playable.

So I did the gpu upgrade from GTS 250 to GTX 660 ti for only $50 from a guy on Craigslist. I went back to 5.0 Dolphin and Gameplay has been very smooth, no mini cutscene hanging crash, and the no bounding box issue. Worth the upgrade I'd say.

Dolphin 4.0-5124 or older should work well (albeit slower) on unsupported GPUs during Bounding Box based effects...
