Edit Reason: added info

I am encountering a game-breaking glitch early in the game, using the Dolphin 5.0 full release. When Professor Frankly goes outside to tear off the old gate after first meeting him, he says his line "I bet you didn't know this old thing came off!" but then just stands there and the game hangs. It's not a full emulator crash - Frankly, as well as Mario and Goombella, continue to stand in their idle animations, the music keeps playing, and NPCs in the area keep walking around but nothing happens. I suspect this has to do with graphical problems with that gate? I recall issues with it in an earlier Dolphin version but they appeared to be fixed in the past. In any case, this makes the game unplayable after this point.
Also, I have experienced some other graphical glitches earlier in the game. The boat that Mario arrives on at the very beginning of the game failed to show the proper animation when it flipped around before leaving, and Lord Crump's army of X-Nauts were completely invisible (except for their shadows) when trying to attack Mario and Goombella all together. I have ensured that Bounding Box emulation was enabled and Store EFB Copies to Texture Only was disabled. Here's screenshot proof in case I'm actually doing something wrong: My graphics card fits the requirements listed on the wiki page as far as I can tell (an Intel HD Graphics 6000 1536 MB), and I have been able to run this game more successfully on a separate, but extremely similar (if anything, it had an older GPU and less RAM) MacBook in the past on Dolphin 4.0. Thanks in advance. Edit: I am also experiencing slight "flickering" or some such, in which foreground objects will not properly obscure the main plane for a split second at the beginning of a new scene, most noticeably just as the game launches (the Rogueport plaza can be seen for a split second before the book shows up). I have not experience this issue in the past either. 07-01-2016, 04:49 PM
Constantly having an issue with black bars. The widescreen ones at the top and bottom, and whenever Mario blinked during the opening. Dunno how to get rid of them. Switched from OGL and dx11. Didn't do anything. Enabled/disabled everything that had to do with Aspect ratio/resolution as well. I know the picture is in windowed, but it's doing the same thing in Fullscreen as well.
I also downloaded this fix https://www.dropbox.com/s/5uz13myxt67xf2...rs.7z?dl=0 but it didn't help either. 07-02-2016, 07:27 AM
My game keeps crashing, due to an "Unknown Pointer" error. I've seen people say that it'll work on an older version, but same issue.
I'm having issues with the paper effects. Going thin results in the below screen shot. Using pipes and flying results in similar issues. I've also attached a screen shot of my settings but I think they are correct. Any idea what to do about this?
