So it may not be impossible or i just lucky as I stayed as far up as a i could and the waves all seemed to either be invisible or didn't spawn in not sure which. So yeah if your lucky you may be able to get past the waves in chapter 5 in the grotto. and as Link_to_the_past said the changes in d3d may or may not have broken something. Also my save file is currently at cortez's ship before the battle so im not to far from the waves if any 1 wants to see for themselves ill attach my save file as soon as some one tells me how to find it.

Navigate to your Documents folder and then "Dolphin Emulator" in there should be a GC folder that contains your memcards.
If you have an american copy of the game it will be the USA one.

Compress the file to a zip and then you can upload it.

All right gang here is my save file in a 7-zip. sadly i don't have winrar so to any 1 that does and doesn't have 7-zip I am sorry. but with this I believe you should be able to make your way back towards the wave room and see what I experienced.

Is it just me or is bounding box broken completely in OpenGL? I'm not even using GPUDeterminism. Single core doesn't work either. Everthing's fine in D3D.

Invader, same here and I have an AMD R9 290 GPU.  Is that the PAL version of the game?

Nope, it's NTSC.

Update: Just did a bisect and it seems that it was caused by this commit: link

Update 2: Well since it looks like it isn't just me. I'll submit an issue report.

Hi all,
im having a bit of trouble getting paper mario to run.
i get into the intro, past the load start screen, then the story of mario and luigi reading peaches letter is all good.
its the section of animation after that that dolphin always crashes on.
the little boat sails from left to right and boom, white screen and shut down.
I cant seem to find anyone who has had this problem before or at least at this stage.
any advice folks?

thanks

I just tested and it happened to me too. I haven't started a new file in a long time so I never noticed. Anyway turning off dual core solves the problem.

Right-click Paper Mario, and make sure Dual core is unchecked.

im afraid it may be some other setting. because im still crashing, are there any other prefrences that could affect this?

You're right. I tested again and still got the crash. the problem seems to be OpenGL. It works fine in D3D. since your on Linux I guess you could try to find an older build that works until this is fixed.

Came here to report this issue and saw this thread was the most recently posted in thread. Thought you might also be experiencing the same glitch I'm experiencing over on super paper Mario on the Wii. Looks like you are! And you've already found the patch that broke it.
Well I went back to an easier development build.
This also breaks Thoreau on super paper Mario. He'll simply disappear during game play and you kind of need him lol.
