GC Paper Mario problem

GC Paper Mario problem

In chapter 2, i am stuck in a spot where the game can no longer keep going. Punio disappears when i rescue the elder and then the game does nothing. I have had missing sprites throughout the game that i saw someone else having as a problem, are these two things related and or fixable?

try without dual core

Well the sprires are unfixable but I thought it might make Punio appear.
