Can someone help me confirm if there is something wrong with the audio in this game when running HLE? I have listened to the audio now with both HLE and LLE (as well as the different audio plugins like dsound and xaudio), and every time I use HLE the audio screw ups massively. The sound and music in-game is normal when using LLE btw. The audio bugs I can identify include certain voice-over portions and sound cues not playing, heavy static throughout the game, and distorted instruments in the music. This is all while going full speed.
These audio dumps I made should show the issue I am having. The audio recordings will consist of loading the game, going to menu screen and waiting a bit to display audio and sound effects, launching a new game while skipping the cinematic cut scene, and listening to the game's in game cut scene between Pacman and Orson the Ghost. Pay no attention to the last portion of the LLE recording where it stutters a bit btw. This is just because I forgot to cut off the emulation before it displayed a scene that causes my computer to go below 100% full speed. Thanks in advance. PS: I am using Dolphin 4.0-2697 for this testing which is currently the latest development build on the main page. I have done no regression testing because I want to see if anyone else can reproduce this to make sure it isn't just an issue with my computer. Update: Here are the links to the audio dumps: http://www.mediafire.com/download/f24238w7b69q187/PMW3+Audio+HLE.wav & http://www.mediafire.com/download/nzdzgc3n3pe22gp/PMW3+Audio+LLE.wav 10-19-2014, 03:24 AM

OK, audio issue is confirmed, so it should be put in the wiki that LLE is needed for perfect audio. In addition, can someone please check if Pacman World 3's fog is supposed to look like this?
Normal Settings: http://www.mediafire.com/view/xcdpg4z6ft9u23k/GP8EAF-1.png With Disable Fog checked: http://www.mediafire.com/view/gu4m7mh8rmt1rrf/GP8EAF-2.png The picture shows translucent boxes around the birds and the fumes coming out of the pipes, which are stripped away when "Disable Fog" is checked. I couldn't really find any videos of console action for this particular section to see if this was a game issue or a Dolphin issue other then this video (looks like console to me,not sure): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwAbWpJHIK4&list=UUWaKY0cvy3qOlZfi3xthOfQ at 3:55 and it seems to show the issue. If this is the case, then it's an issue with PMW3's fog coding and not a dolphin issue. EDIT: BTW, this happens on both OpenGL and D3D. One final thing. I reached the level where I previously was unable to use the elevator in level 4 using HLE and could using LLE. Now, I am able to use the elevator both up and down with both HLE and LLE. Don't know when the regression was fixed, but it is; so it can be taken of the issues list. 10-19-2014, 03:39 AM
Have you tried the latest dev builds? Your post from 2 months ago says you're on 4.0-2697, but the current latest is 4.0-3691 as of writing.
Also, I have seen fog issues in other games 10-19-2014, 06:15 AM
I am currently using 4.0-3691 which is latest at the time of writing. That is the build I used to test.

Judging from the video you've linked, it looks like the game is at fault. Increasing the IR makes the bug more noticeable.

I don't want to put this on the issue tracker quite yet in case it has already been noted, but has anyone had this bug before in PMW3 or another game that has the same problem?
http://www.mediafire.com/view/jghmnrh67u4ig8c/GP8EAF-1(2).png I am using a computer with an Athlon II x2 B24 processor and an R7 240 GPU. I am having this problem with the latest build (4.0-5875) with both OpenGL and Direct3D and it occurs regardless of texture cache, EFB to Texture/RAM, XFB, and Fast Depth settings. It occurs in JIT, JIT-IL, and Interpreter. I really can't think of anything else that could cause this, but it would be nice to hear if anyone knows what is causing it. EDIT: Forgot to mention that I was not using any enhancements. I had 1x IR with no AA or AF applied. Lighting per pixel was disabled as well. 03-17-2015, 07:38 PM
Possibly an issue with the vertex loader. Can you make a 3 frame fifolog showing it off?

Seems a recent regression, Dolphin-v40-5569 doesn't have it.
Edit: Ok, found it, it is dolphin-master-4.0-5870-x64 that causes it: https://github.com/dolphin-emu/dolphin/pull/2189 |
