It's not really anything like those, but no, it did poorly because it's not a great game. It's worth like 5 bucks now and I've wanted to play it for like 6 years. In that regard I like it, and it's kind of like a pre-cursor to vanquish. Given a lot more time and budget this probably could've been an amazing game. I'm just playing the soundtrack on winamp now to get around the no music problem, runs fine with AA off but I still can't find a way to have it on while playing without seeing those really big slowdowns at times.

Oh ha ha, I'll guess it's only me then that saw some resemblance to those games.
Anyway I guess you're right with a little bit more effort it could have been something nice.
All right so continuing to test. So I switched to opengl, it seemed to run fine but AA didn't work for me at all(I'm using the latest version, 7671 I think).
Then I switched to direct11. Stock settings, then 3x native res, aa 8x, af 16x, per pixel lighting checked(I assume that's the lighting effect that is making my jaw drop?) and force texture filtering on. I don't even really know what that last one does I'm so new to this emulator, I'm just putting stuff on and seeing how it all goes lol. It's running as good with all of that as it did on direct9, 0 AA without anything else checked. I did not do much other option checking when AA was completely failing me on direct9 though. It crashed once a bit after loading a save state since I got sick of starting the game to test and it crashed once AFTER I saved my game and hit escape to get out of it, so the game was already off. I then played a whole trial mission and multiple 20-30 second tests after that and have not had a crash, haven't used anymore save states though. Music still cuts off before it loops, so like I said I'm playing the music on winamp with hotkeys lol but of course you could play any music you wanted. We'll see if that boss still crashes the game as was reported earlier, I'm a couple hours away. Again my system is a phenom II x4 945 and a radeon 4870. Slows down in a few random places, but barely, and when multiple flying enemies all spawn together I hit 20fps for just a second. As early in as I am those are the only enemies that do that, even when the bigger ground guys spawn I don't see anything noticeable which is weird. Pictures are just a teeny bit fuzzier if you really look because theyre jpegs from fraps, but barely. 07-11-2011, 06:15 AM
LLE should probably solve your sound problems but should then also give you lower speeds.
But despite that, it looks good on your system. 07-11-2011, 06:37 AM
I have read about that but not how to do it quite yet. I've spent like 3x the amount of time with the emulator as I have with the game, kind of why I hate emulators since I go kind of crazy testing when you give me all those options, so I'll check out the sound stuff later.

Gosh, of just a coincidence I stumbled across this game/thread and here I found myself posting yet again and again.
Anyway keep the updates coming, it's interesting to see how it works with different options. 07-11-2011, 10:35 PM

Well this game isn't that bad I remember playing it years ago... For your sound prob yeah try LLE it should work if it doesn't unfortunately that means the game isn't 100% compatible on Dolphin

Lol I'm not calling it junk, I'm still playing it. The main problems are controls are a little weird but not ultimately bad when you get used to them, though the first 5 minutes I popped this into the wii I thought I might be quitting soon, and the complete lack of variety in the environments and enemies. A lot of hours of killing the same stuff in the same places killed this commercially no doubt. The visuals look great with all the bells and whistles though since the textures are sparse everything cleans up so well, of course you can see that in my shots, and vanessa still animates amazingly. Actually I'm wondering if I can do a dump, I have to do it on the wii right, computer can't be used? I have a card reader on my old computer but nothing on this new one because it didn't have the right bay size, guess I could just frankenstein connect it and let it hang. The old pc doesn't have a hard drive or ram anymore so I can't actually use it.

If you're talking about dumping the LLE files via the computer then it's a no go.
The Wii is the better choice here since the GameCube is a bit trickier to do it on. 07-12-2011, 01:39 AM
Music stops with LLE too, its a known problem (there is already issue about it).
