I notice that whenever I load a save state, a good majority of the time it loads with this really weird audio that is just this sort of loud buzzing/humming. Nothing else can be heard, it's as if the audio is muted and then a program in the background froze.

EDIT: I've found that this is caused by loading a state before the little warning screen appears asking you to press any button shows up, quite odd considering but I guess that fixes it.

Hi, been having issues with Metroid Prime 2, I can only scan certain items with the scan visor with Direct3D, others it won't let me. When I switch to OpenGL the scan works perfectly, but the game suffers from massive slowdowns in certain parts, which do not happen with Direct3D. I've pasted my config file (this is the one right?), any help appreciated.

Try disabling anything that changes how the game looks, starting with AA and AF.

Well, that worked. I played with all the other options and never thought AA and AF would mess with the game. Thank you very much Big Grin

Is there a fix for the intro cutscene after starting a new game on the PAL version?

Alright everyone! First post here, so if something isn't correct please let me know. I've been using Dolphin for a very long time. Major kudos to the amount of dedication this project gets from the programmers and developers; you all rock.

TL;DR - I have an excellent PC and can play any game just fine; however, Metroid Prime 2 seems to want to throw a curve ball my way. The refraction slowdown in the Torvus Bog is just unbelievable, and it doesn't appear to matter which video backend I choose; OpenGL, Direct3D11, and Direct3D12.

Direct3D12, though experimental, makes everything run the best by FAR. It also doesn't matter which revision of Dolphin I use. Because I can read and have SEARCHED for my problem, I have found the listed solution! Yay! It was supposedly fixed by revision 5124!

Except...it didn't work. I have downloaded Dolphin 4.0-5124 and the refraction slowdown STILL occurs. I don't remember this being an issue when I was running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, perhaps this has something to do with Windows 10? I've also downloaded everything from the latest developer build to the latest stable build: no success. Whenever anything splashes on Samus' visor, the entire game drops from it's beautiful 60FPS down to about 17FPS. The sound, fps, EVERYTHING lags. Adjusting the in-game graphical settings doesn't affect the slowdown - it happens whether I'm at standard resolution or 1920x1080.

Is there any solution or particular revision that people have found that works for them? I understand the Metroid Prime series overall has significant hardware requirements, but I believe I more than compensate for that:

PC Specs:

CPU: Core i7 4790K @ 4.9Ghz OC
GPU: Nvidia GTX 780 Ti
RAM: Corsair 16GB
OS: Windows 10 Enterprise x64

Game Settings:

1920x1080 Resolution (3x Native)
Anisotropic Filtering 16x
4x MSAA

Everything else is on the standard setting. I'm an IT systems administrator and avid PC gamer, so I know how to maintain and build PC's extremely well. All updates have been done, Nvidia drivers are up-to-date, etc.

Any advice would be incredibly helpful. Thanks in advance!

Did you update your video drivers recently? Try using Nvidia 362.00 or older drivers, avoid the 364 series.
Computer specifications:
Windows 10 Pro x64 | Ryzen 3700X | ASUS Crosshair VIII Hero WiFi Motherboard | 16GB 3600MHz | Geforce 1070Ti | Corsair AX760 PSU

I run Dolphin 4.0-9109, and Metroid Prime 2 runs the best in D3D12. However, whenever I play any game on Dolphin using D3D12, if I quit that game and try to play Metroid Prime 2 (using D3D12), Dolphin will crash on the menu screen before I can choose which save to load, and my graphics driver will also crash and recover. If I want to play MP2 on D3D12 again, I have to reboot my PC. I don't experience this problem when I try to play any other games in Dolphin using D3D12.

Actually, this happens with all GC and Wii games when I run them using D3D12. I don't know if it's a driver problem or something else.
