*EDIT: Solved
I've encountered an issue that really baffles me, it just doesn't make any sense at to me Sad

The game runs PERFECT locked at 60fps with some minor sound issues. However, occasionally a thing happens that feels EXACTLY like a FPS drop, like the game drops to 30-40fps - but counter is locked at 60. I doublechecked this with fraps. This is completely and utterly random (although frequent) and has nothing to do with what is happening in the game.

Now, I messed around with the settings and the problem persists, except for when I enable Vsynch. And here is the funny part, with Vsync enabled the game stops making this "fake fps drops", instead it randomly speeds up... and of course the fps counter stuck at ~60.

So it's either random fps drops that aren't fps drops -or- random fps speedups that aren't fps speed ups. WTF!?!?

Can someone shed some light on what is happening here? I'm more curious than frustrated.

*Edit: This doesn't seem to happen with Dolphin 3.0, I made the settings as similar as possible and I can't replicate the problem in 3.0 or eliminate it in 3.5 -_-' how odd. Too bad the sound is messed up in 3.0 :< can't have it all.
*Edit2: I managed to get rid of this funny issue by setting "Framelimit: Audio". I still can't understand what causes this and how the game looks like it's dropping frames when it actually isn't..

The FIFO-BP merger helped the prime games A LOT. Use the latest development build for these games.

The game actually runs REALLY fast on the latest build with my CPU clocked at 2.9Ghz.
.:Settings:.
Backend: Direct3D11
IR: Auto (Multiple)
AF: 16x
Hacked Buffer Upload enabled
Everything else is default.
Just want to say that I've experienced this bug as well. It happens extremely rarely though (like once every few hours). It's not game breaking either because after you leave and go through about 3 rooms or so, it looks normal again. I was using Dolphin 3.5-1164 x64.

EDIT: I did not have "Skip EFB Access from CPU" turned on though.

I can confirm seeing significantly improved smoothness in Metroid Prime on latest dev builds. Still a few places that cause severe performance declines like the map screen in certain areas, and some large rooms with big groups of enemies, but for the most part wandering around is pretty smooth.

Also something I noticed was that the cutscenes, the FMV ones, are no longer out of sync with audio and skipping early. The most notable one is the main menu, as it used to blatantly get cut short with some kind of timing error and skip out early.

Good work overall and headed in the very right direction. I do wonder if we'll ever see major performance boosts to optimize those massive areas where performance tanks, or if we'll have to wait another 10 years for better CPU IPC to just brute force Sad

Hi there. I'd like to play Metroid Prime with 3d. The 3d works perfectly (really rocks!), but with or without 3d, I get very bad audio, sfx and music. It's like the audio interrupts every other second, it's extremely annoying. I'd tried every possible combination of the audio options, but to no good. When I use OpenAL, with 30 ms of delay, this doesn't happen, but the audio sounds with constant noise and it hears like in slow motion. I've red in the wiki that using LLE audio this problem goes away. But in my case, it doens't; in fact, it doesn't make any difference. The only difference is with OpenAL, but that doesn't work either. I'm using Windows 7 of 32 bits, Core2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz, 4 GB of RAM, MSI Nvidia GeForce N560GTX, hope I'm not forgetting anything. I've tried the latest version of the emulator, 3.5-1408. Again, everything video related, and 3d related works like a charm, the only problem is the sound.
You'll probably know, by my computer specs, that I don't get full speed. But in version 4798 I can still play perfectly, a little slow but the sound works great. But, I can't use 3d in that version so old. What can I do to fix the sound?

This is your problem right here. With the latest revisions, both LLE and HLE audio require games to run at or near fullspeed to get decent sound. HLE audio in older revisions didn't have this requirement. The Metroid Prime games are quite demanding, so you should either overclock your computer, or upgrade your current hardware if you want to run these games at fullspeed.

I see. But, still, ¿is there a way to play in 3d with version 4798? I'm using Tridef 3d to make the 3d, but when I try that version of the emulator, the game doesn't get 3d, and it just runs extremely slow, without any 3d. Is there a way, with Tridef 3d, to make that version of the emulator, 3d?

Why would you want to use that version at all?
