@Polsom - I've only played a bit of Metroid Prime so far on stock clocks. Ever since the new-ax-hle merge, sound has been doing very well on HLE audio, at least until the 2nd boss (my progress so far). Haven't noticed any major "lag spikes". It has dipped occasionally, most notably one of the scripted explosions when escaping the frigate in the beginning (the one where the parasite bursts from the tube, killing several Space Pirates) and when the doors open for the Parasite Queen (always drops to a constant 30 FPS). Other than that, I can say that you should be getting good performance.

What are your settings? Are you using HLE audio instead of LLE audio? Also where exactly are you getting these drops in FPS and how severe are they?

So here are the settings that i have got to work the best at the moment, I only just realized that the HLE audio works better than the LLE. I have had to turn off anti aliasing but i want to turn that on for the improved graphics, as for the lag spikes the literally happen at any given moment sometimes the game will freeze for up to a second and the audio will just skip but then everything just goes back to normal this can be extremely frustrating when in boss fights. I can only see the game worth playing again with all the improved graphics options but if i cant get it to work on just the basics looks like ill have to give it a miss Sad

I have just recently got Dolphin emulator on the newest revision (3.5-367) i have been trying to get Metroid Prime to run as well as i can. So far i can get it to run at 60 fps no problem but often i will get huge lag spikes and then they will clear up. I have tried heaps of settings and i just cant get it can anyone help me?
Looks to me that's a hardware feature. I suggest you post your hardware specifications in the Hardware forum, to check if they are enough to run this game. All the Metroid Prime saga requires a very good cpu to run it properly.
I can guarantee its not a hardware issue, you can just click my username to see my hardware specs but here they are anyway:
i5-3570k
Asus 7870 Direct CUII
16gb G.Skill trident X 2400mhz
Its got to do with some sort of settings, i have seen videos of people running this with a core 2 quad.

Good Point. I don't think it's a hardware issue. However, I'd still check the hardware forum. It's not exactly how advanced is the processor, as well as it clock speed and some other features. I have a core 2 quad with 4 gb of ram, and still don't get full speed. Even been your processor a lot better, it may still not be enough. I don't know much about hardware myself, so I can't really guarantee your specs are enough, so again I suggest to check the hardware forum. Good luck!

Edit: haven't seen the previous messages. Never mind.
OS: Windows 10 64 bit
Processor: Intel Core I7 8700
RAM: 32 GB Kingston Dual Channel
Video: ATI Radeon RX 580 8GB VRAM
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370M

What version of Dolphin are you using? And can you show a screenshot of your settings?

EDIT: You weren't using savestates were you... How did that happen?

"Skip EFB Access to CPU"

That would do it. Turn it off and the problem should go away.

Also, "Hacked Buffer Upload" is an OpenGL only setting. It does nothing for D3D11. But it didn't cause your problem either.

Okay. I'll test that. Also, I keep the Hacked Buffer Upload on because I had no idea if it would help or not and I quickly configured this. I'm going to go uncheck that now. Smile Thanks for the help.
