MMU Enabled doesn't make games slower EXCEPT in the rare case where they flood our JIT cache. Metal Gear Solid is one of two games where I know this happens.

So trying to play Metal gear Solid along with other games such as Pokemon colloseum and XD gales and the fps is pretty hurtful for the fact that it feels slow like it seems playable but it feels ugly and the sound sounds choppy and crackly i have been tinkering about to see what could work for me to enjoy the games i wanted to play as i have played wind waker and twilight princess and tested out 2 other games that worked and sounded just fine. Right-clicking and turning off MMU in the properties of the iso file stopped a lot of my issues.

Would anyone be able to assist me with an issue? I'm trying to run this game using various Dolphin builds- 5.0 stable, the newest at 11430, 5.0-9871, etc, and I can't get the game to work.

Basically what's happening is the game freezes right before the first codec call is initiated, no matter if I use Vulkan/D3D11/OpenGL or what config I use. I've tried tweaking various hacks, turning them off and on, no avail. I click "New Game" and start a new game, skip the first cutscene, and then when the codec call sound is heard, no portraits show up and the voice dialog does not play, leaving me with a blank codec call page and unable to progress.

Sounds like it's a similar issue to this one: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-mgs-twin-snake-freeze-issue but I have no clue since there isn't a really good description of what the OP was experiencing.

If anyone could even let me know what hacks should NOT be on and which settings should for sure be checked that would be awesome.

Using the latest dev build, right-click on the game in Dolphin's game list, go to Properties, and go to the Verify tab. Click the verify button to make sure you have a good dump of the game.

Done, dump was verified okay.

The issue is now fixed too! IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS ISSUE- DISABLE MMU!

Right-click the game in Dolphin to do so. Game works perfectly now.

i have a problem, when i do the rapel part on the comunication tower A after reaching the floor i get a black screen with a beep. and have no idea what to do

Hello, I launched the theater mode lastly and had big delay between video and the audio afer 1 hour.

The 60hz gecko code for the PAL version seems to be the problem.

@kawawilson: what are your computer specs? Are you using asynchronous shaders? What version of Dolphin are you using?

Hi all,

I'm running Metal Gear Solid, using Dolphin 5.0-11991 on Mac, with Vulkan as Graphic Back-end + AMD Radeon Pro 560.

The game is running fine, but the top-right radar does not display my position and enemy position as dot. It does show the sight though.

I tried turning of XFB to fix the blue codec. The codec works, but the radar is not.
