Hi, I tried really hard to read all the relevant material before making a dumb post in the wrong place, so sorry if that wasn't enough and I still got it wrong.
That said, I'm having an issue running Hot Wheels: World Race. Basically the game runs very fast in the menus, all well and good, but it slows down to anywhere from half to about 3/4 speed when in a race. The race preview also works fine. The FPS counter in-race shows that I'm getting fewer frames per second but I'm getting all of them, so it's just slowed down, and the audio is also slowed down. Is my computer too slow? The test entry shows a CPU pretty similar in power to mine own, and my graphics card is quite a bit older but I'm not sure if that's the problem here, because I used to have a much worse graphics card (GTX 550Ti), and the game ran equally as poorly, not better or worse. I tried messing with any graphics settings in Dolphin that I could find, but nothing seemed to help at all. My specs if entering them in my profile does not make them visible to you all: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 EVGA GeForce GTX 770 msi A320m Gaming Pro MoBo if that's relevant Windows 10 64-bit, 64-bit Dolphin 5.0, "About" says Revision: ac267a29405ae768037a8774b84b805a4180d1af 03-14-2020, 03:11 PM
I just tested, and can confirm that I have no problems playing a race on my copy of the game. So, sounds like a problem on your end. Here are some things to try:
1. Looks like you're using the 5.0 stable release. That thing is years old, go up to the top of this page, go to Download, and grab whatever version is the most recent. Lots of bug fixes and optimizations there for you to enjoy. May solve all the problems you're having. 2. In Dolphin's game list, right-click on the game, go to Properties, and then go to the Verify tab, and click on the Verify Integrity button. This will check if you have a good dump. If you don't have a good dump, you might need to redump your game from the disc. 3. Go to the Nvidia Control Panel, and under 3D settings > Manage 3D settings > Program Settings, create a profile for Dolphin.exe and set the Power management mode to "Prefer maximum performance". This is because Dolphin does weird things to GPUs compared to regular PC games. 4. Go to Windows Power options, and set your power plan to a High Performance plan. Also while you're there, disable Windows Fast Boot and do a computer reboot. 5. If none of the above work, make sure you have the latest GPU drivers installed, along with the latest AMD updates for Ryzen (and maybe the latest BIOS as well?) |
