I saved manually, reloaded and walked around until another movie played to test it out. Beyond that, I do not have other back-ends in my install to even test. Deactivating error messages let's you get a little bit further, but then freezes when you close the menu. Activating MMU causes the FPS to drop to 0 as soon as you get the mail, but music continous playing. It found that this happens starting with version 5.0-540 (Dynamic bat - PR #4146). In older versions you can complete the dungeon, but then the game saves to a different .gci-file, with a different header, which cannot be loaded after restarting the game (unless you fix the header with a hexeditor, as I described earlier in this thread). So, the easiest way to play this game currently is to use a version prior to 5.0-540 (Ishiiruka stable works, too) and use mostly save states.

So, managed to get this working with a few buddies, using dolphin 5.0 flat, with VBA-M WX 2.0.0. How are we not talking about this more often?
It actually connects and works, last time I looked into this, GCN to GBA connectivity barely even functioned. The only downside to FFCC is none of the GBAs can have their radars active, or that weird input polling happens. Manually setting up each VBA to take inputs from a different controller takes a rather miniscule amount of time. It's weirdly taxing though, with each VBA process taking 10-17% of my i5 4670k, each. Finished up the first year, should we be aware of any major bugs for specifically 5.0? Haven't used anything past that. Might photoshop up some of the dumped UI textures and clean them up. But I'm super satisfied with the GCN to GBA connectivity, it's rather incredible. 08-20-2017, 08:32 AM

I believe that the latest developer builds have better performance with GBA connectivity. Version 5.0-3723 fixed several bugs appearing in Four Swords Adventures with Visual Boy Advance, while 5.0-4127 enabled GBA connectivity while using LLE audio. Personally, I haven't used multiplayer mode for anything more than testing purposes. The connectivity is too intermittent and I can't charge spells because the polling times out on me, though I didn't think to try turning the map screen off. I'm using an i5 7600 and running four VBA instances alongside Dolphin maxes it out. I wish that mGBA supported linking with Dolphin because it's not as demanding on the CPU as VBA is. 08-20-2017, 09:06 AM
Yeah, I dumped my own LLE DSP stuff a long time ago, was using that in 5.0. The GBA input is weird though, how it can't show maps, but I don't know the science behind it. I don't have any performance issues with it, besides GBA radars.

It appears that this is a problem with the game when it tries to save on anything that isn't an official Nintendo memory card.
I tried it with both an official card and a 3rd party one I have that works perfectly fine for all other games, FF CC corrupted the 3rd party one in no time at all.
I've been getting the invalid read/write errors like CRAZY on 5.0. To the point where the game was not playable to completion when trying to get beyond Lida passed Year 3-4. I googled it like crazy, and disabling panic handles did not work, nor did enabling MMU. It just crashed the game. However, in absolute desperation, I right clicked FF:CC and did this:
Spoiler: EDIT Yup, with those settings I don't get the ones in the villages anymore either. However, I'll continue to test and see if other stuff happens. 10-21-2017, 08:22 AM
Soooo...I'm playing this on android. Sorry about the multiple "android"s in those required fields but I don't know how to find things like, what graphics card, or how much RAM. But it's Android version 5.0 and a samsung galaxy s7. My phone is more powerful than my laptop, unfortunately.
Is the Goblin Wall thing just for the PC version, if not, what would be recommended here to get past it? Also I'm getting crashes in River Belle Path's myrrh collecting scene. I can make a save state right before it. It always crashes at the exact same point. I can't skip the cutscene either, because pushing "start" crashes it too. Any ideas, anybody? 10-26-2017, 07:46 AM

Switch to a needed element and go to a map area with a working dungeon, such as Moschet Mansion. I don't know if the issue is PC specific though. *As for River Belle's crash, I have never encountered a crash there so I don't have any suggestions for it.* |
