Yes, Sandy Bridge (Socket 1155) is a mid range chip. Socket 2011 is the successor. It is due out towards the end of the year.
Is it just me or has this game's framerate become very choppy recently, i used run this game at fullspeed with the occasional dip at the racer select menu as well as at the very beginning of a race but now it jumps around everywhere in races. I can be driving by myself and it will be running at about half speed yet i can also be in the middle of the 30 car pack and it's running at full speed.
EDIT: nvm after updating to r7060 it seems to have fixed that.

Out of curiosity what kind of framerate are you getting on Sand Ocean and Big Blue? 02-05-2011, 08:48 AM
Big Blue starts out at around 26 to 30 FPS at the very beginning of the race after about 10 to 20 seconds it goes up to around 45fps and then it stays between 40 to 50fps (Depending on what's happening, if there are a lot of racers on screen then it's at around the 40 to 43fps mark but if it's only me and a few other racers then it hovers between 48 to 50fps). Sand Ocean starts at around 20 to 25fps and then goes up to around 30fps and hovers around there, However unlike Big Blue and pretty much every track in the game it's fps fluctuation doesn't seem to be based on what's happening it just appears to be very random, it constantly hovers around 28 to 30fps no matter what. I have the PAL version so 50FPS is full speed for me.

Thanks to r7107 as well as rodolfoosvaldobogado dlist optimizations this game has received a nice speedup. Nearly all the tracks run at full speed for me except Sandy Ocean.

I have a couple of questions please: 1)There are so many revisions and build by different people it's all too confusing now. Would you mind posting a link to the r7107 build that you're using, and tell us who this build is from? Lectrode? Mamario? 2)rodolfoosvaldobogado dlist optimizations....can you tell me what this means? And can you please post a link to a thread discussing this rodolfoosvaldobogado dlist optimizations thing? Thanks
Sure i get all my dolphin revisions from the main part of this site, http://www.dolphin-emu.org/download.html, im currently on r7120 and it's even faster however the speed is very unstable on some tracks, sometimes it drops off massively for no reason same thing happens in Metroid Prime. You can find all the new and old changes to Dolphin on it's code google page http://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/updates/list. Right now i would say r7107 is the best of the new builds for speed in this game (It's not as fast as r7120 but it's also not as unstable).
EDIT: Except in Metroid Prime it feels like it's running at 120fps.
