i found a debug menu in the ntsc-j version by hacking it on the gamecube via usb gecko (the pal and ntsc-u versions lag the debug menu). i wanted to use dolphin emu to capture frames, showing the debug menu. but in races the camera behaves strange (like with dolphin's builds before 2.0 for the pal version) and the characters are totally messi (arms and legs are sometimes shorten up or missing). that partly ruins to show what the debug menu of the game can do.
any solution to make it running well? 04-20-2013, 09:47 PM
The European version is insanely choppy (video and audio) whenever I am in a race. I've tried it with and without dual core, and fiddled around with a bunch of other settings but nothing seems to work. It hasn't crashed while in a race yet, but at one point (I don't remember the settings at that time) it would restart just after selecting 60Hz at the start.
My PC spec is as follows: i5 3570k, GTX 660 Ti, 8GB 1866MHz, Windows 7 x64. 04-20-2013, 10:12 PM
I didn't get a great performance at stock either. We'll have to overclock for this game

Is there any fix for F-zero losing stability when in duel core mode? It's irritating having it crash.

reshy, yeh, the crash has since been fixed. Your profile says you are using 3.5-367. The latest is now 3.5-1289. Get it from the download link at the top of the page.

I have sucessfully got this game running at a constant 60 fps on linux by ticking the experimental "hacked buffer upload" option under opengl options.
This eliminates 99% of my fps dips holding a constant 60 fps (even at the starting line with all vehicles on screen). I don't know when this option was introduced but thank you to the person that created it! Dolphin Build: 3.5-1307 nvidia drivers: 313.30 i7 @ 3.4 xubuntu 13.04 Other options: vsync = off scaled efb copy = on disable fog = on skip efb access from cpu = off efb copies = texture accuracy = fast external frame buffer = disable hacked buffer upload = on I have not played it for long periods of time so I cannot verify stability but it makes a huge difference! edit : fix typo 04-29-2013, 02:51 AM
Another thing to point out is to make sure the MMU is disabled on the local game properties. If this is checked it halves the fps on this game.

Thanks for sharing Toxic. Is this hacked buffer upload thing a new option that was added to recent builds? Is it Linux only or have they added it to windows as well? Haven't used Dolphin in a couple weeks so I'm curious to know. |
