GC controller randomly stops taking/ignores inputs

I made a topic about this a while back and while I did find out that I'm not the only one who has run into this problem, I didn't learn of any fix for it. I have only had my controls cut out like that using the Wii U adapter while I haven't had any problems on my Xbox 360 controller. I know that doesn't help much, but I really don't know what causes this problem.
