GC Controller Adapter Crash

The problem (or at least the symptoms): When using a Mayflash "GC Controller Adapter for PC USB" and an official Nintendo GC controller, after running any game for a variable amount of time, rumble on my controller ceases to function and upon stopping the emulation Dolphin crashes.

What I've tried:
* I currently use the OpenGL backend, but using Direct3D11 makes no difference.
* I've tried disabling rumble on the controller but that makes no difference. Rumble cutting off may very well just be a side effect of the main issue (whatever it may be).
* Every version of Dolphin I've tried seems to have the same issue, including versions 4.0.2, 4.0-648, 4.0-515, and 3.5-2468.

What "works":
* Unplugging (not using) the gamecube controller and its adapter entirely seems to eliminate the issue. I used a PS2 controller to test this, and rumble continued to function for as long as I was willing to continue testing, and Dolphin did not crash upon ending emulation.

It's not the end of the world if I can't figure this out, since otherwise the controller (and by proxy the adapter) works flawlessly for the most part, and games still run fine up until the point I try to end them. But I'd still really like to fix this if I can. Having Dolphin bomb out every time gets rather tiring.

Let me know if I need to supply any additional information.

Edit:
In case anyone finds this in the future and wonders how to fix the problem, uninstall the mayflash driver. That's the only solution I know of currently. After uninstalling I don't have any issues anymore, and all the buttons still work the way they should, including the analog triggers. The only thing missing is rumble, but that didn't work for me before anyway.

I have exactly the same issue with the Mayflash GC Controller Adapter, every time I want to quit a game Dolphin crash, I can play the games without any problems till the moment I want to exit them.

If someone have a solution I would be very happy Smile

Seems to be a Windows 8 issue, maybe?

Hmm possibly, I am on Windows 8. How about you, MooX, are you running Windows 8 too?

Yes, windows 8 too... Argh...

Edit: Oh, I think I just found a solution.

When I received the controller I installed the drivers contained on the mini-cd. After this I have set-up the controller in dolphin and found the same problem as you.

When I saw that windows 8 could be the problem, I just uninstalled the driver, launching again the .exe from the mini-cd, and now it seems to work just fine, no more crashes. It is weird, but maybe it was a conflict problem between windows drivers and mayflash drivers.

I only tried like 30 min, so maybe my joy could be fake, I will do more tries and come back here to say how it is.

I have this problem too. I am running Windows 8.1 and I am using the drivers I installed from their website. My laptop doesn't have a DVD drive so I can't use that mini CD. I would get the drivers off their website anyways just because they are probably more up-to-date. What I currently do when ending an emulation is just unplug the USB adapter and plug it back in due to the fact that dolphin immediately becomes responsive again once I unplug the adapter.

Ok, the driver seems to be the same as the one I had on the mini-cd. As I said, I unistalled them, thanks to the original exe file that made me intalling them, and now it is working just fine. I played a couple of hours without seing the crashes again.

I think on windows 8 drivers don't need to be installed and that's why we were having problems. The only thing is I don't have rumble, but I prefer rumble-less and crash-free.

The only thing the driver does for you is configure the calibration, and add rumble. Make sure both R and L triggers work when using it without a driver. I'm not sure if they fixed that in firmware or software. Mayflash stuff is HID compliant so you dont need drivers. They didnt write the HID/PID ( physical interface ) so no rumble without drivers. Watch their site for a win 8 driver, it will be there soon enough.
