Switched EFB to RAM instead of texture and that did restore it. So far I have not noticed any significant difference in speed performance on my end with ram set to fast. Battle transitions are comparable to the texture setting. I am running dual core though with no crashes (yet). Certain areas still cause slow down. But I am still progressing with no issues so far.

The screen tearing is still there and it is driving me crazy despite trying a whole bunch of drivers. Isn't there a way to limit framerate to 59 instead of Auto or 60? 05-13-2014, 02:14 AM
I ran into a layering issue in the the first room of the lava caves with enemies on the stable version, version 4.0-1546 seems to have corrected it.

I have to bring this important issue up, when playing this game creates a file named "ogl-GKBEAF-shaders.cache" inside the "ShaderCache" folder and the file takes a lot of space, last time i checked it had 17GB!!!
This issue needs some attention, hope the developers take a look at this. This was tested on the latest Dolphin revisions "4.0-4969" and "4.0-5328".

Do you have per-pixel-lightning enabled? I think that might be responsible.

This issue is pretty serious and needs the developers attention. Edit 1: I submitted the issue in: https://code.google.com/p/dolphin-emu/is...1422589644 Edit 2: On the stable 4.0.2 it does not happen. Right now i did another test in the latest "4.0-5378" revision, just skipping the intro and pressing the "New Game" option and playing it for 3 secs and then hitting "ESC" to close the game froze the emulator, i had to force quit it, after the force quit it created a 5GB file... Afterwards i did the same test but instead of force quitting it i let the emulator exit the game normally, it took like 2 minutes to finally close the game but after that the file went up to 17GB!!! again.

I started a new game the other day and decided to check my shader cache just now and the file for Baten Kaitos does seem abnormally large(1.79GB).
When I was done playing, I just hit escape to stop emulation and I do recall having to force close the application in Task Manager. This was on 4.0-5394. Did a 70 hour play through a few months ago(don't remember which build) and didn't have this issue so it's worth looking into.

If you don't force quit it the file keeps increasing, at first it can take like 5 GB or 6 GB, but the second time you open the game and do the same thing it keeps going up. I tried to bisect the revisions to find when it started to happen but the revision "4.0-2496" and below is crashing the emu, meaning i can't open it. The last old revision that worked is "4.0-2498" and it still created the huge file. But at least that's a start. If someone keeps checking the revisions below "4.0-2496" we can narrow it down.

Hello. I'm a newbie at Dolphin emulation, and I'm having a problem trying to run Baten Kaitos that doesn't seem to be one of the common ones encountered. I can't even get past the opening cutscene (the one where you, as the Guardian Spirit, join Kalas, not the one before the title screen, that runs fine) without experiencing choppiness and slowdown. Can anyone help?

Your CPU and GPU are weak. You can try the new development versions which should give a huge speed up compared to the stable ones.
Enable "Skip EFB Access from CPU" and make sure vsync and anti-aliasing are disabled too.
