Hi! Sorry if this is the wrong spot to post this issue or if I should have made a seperate topic, but theres an issue that kind of halts/makes progression difficult for some if not all players.
In waterskip slider, the second activity, theres an issue where the initial top speed is capped at about half... whereas on console you can fully max out this gauge. The gauge is maxed by spamming the A button. Because you cannot max out the speed, it makes it nearly impossible to beat this activity unless you get good potions and monster stats... which is hard because you are so early in the game. You can get every command input perfect but it won't be enough. There are two other iterations of the event in the game that also suffer from the inability to spam A and get full speed. Every other event in the game is fine with A spamming. Here is a video of what the speed gauge (The part where you run down the slope) looks like on console when you spam A. The red gauge gets very close to the end, but in dolphin it gets stuck halfway. https://youtu.be/JtmoGAdRQ7I?t=43 Now I cannot be certain because this was so long ago, but I think my friend didn't have this issue on his end in dolphin. I'm not sure what version he had or what controller settings/type he had. But me and another user experience this in multiple dolphin versions. I hope I'm posting this in the right place, but I'm wondering if this and workarounds should be noted on the wiki or in any other locations? Does anyone else get this issue, or if not, is it something to do with the controller settings? Thanks in advance.
I just realized this was a GameCube game. Oops, ignore previous version of this post.
Are you using passthrough or emulated controllers? 12-07-2018, 12:34 PM

I actually wanted to edit that I changed the threshold settings for the A button etc. to 0 (default 50) and that had a LITTLE improvement but it was enough to beat the event, barely. There should be a better way to get this to closely resemble the console input, but also I feel it is worth noting this on the wiki or something so people can possibly beat the level, lol. Changing threshold made it pass from being stuck at halfway to about a cm or so past halfway point, for comparison.
Threshold doesn't do anything for buttons lol, that's placebo.
It could just be different controllers resulting in different mashing potential... 12-07-2018, 02:58 PM

You don't understand, it literally doesn't affect what you think it does. It doesn't contribute to it at all. You must have mashed slightly faster.
I guess there could be the extremely minute possibility of some kind of bug, but, considering what it's actually used for (putting buttons onto axises) that's not going to affect mashing speed. 03-04-2019, 03:52 AM
I'm here to report the same issue. I was able to clear this stage no problem when I was a child, and even this first gameplay video isn't able to clear it. My friend and I are pretty decent gamers and don't normally experience skill based issues, we're currently on our 27th attempt with 16 different monsters/stats.
I'm not sure if it's an input issue or an anti-piracy element making it so you can't get past the second stage. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_conti...biAxRU2EHk |
