GC Adapter Not Working!

Today my Gamecube controllers, along with my adapter came in the mail, i was so excited to play smash melee after so long. When i start it up using this method https://dolphin-emu.org/docs/guides/how-use-official-gc-controller-adapter-wii-u/ it only will say "adapter not detected" i will continue to unplug, re-plug, and put the usb into different ports but with no luck, i use dolphin version 5.0 64 bit. I've restarted my computer 3 times and made sure there were not two or more instances of dolphin running at the same time. it always comes up with the message that it doesnt detect my adapter, any help?
