I know this has been asked before and shot down, but now that Dolphin has built in support for GBA link cable games, would it be possible to get 1 or more real GBAs to act as controllers with Dolphin?
I've found GBA projects that show people using the GBA as a controller for other emulators, and even using a Raspberry Pi to output games into a GBA (including audio and video), so it should at least be technically possible.
Apparently the official Nintendo Wii-U/Switch to Gamecube adapter and/or their GBA Link cable can't be used for this, but it seems some other people have found ways to get more functionality going.

GBA as remote display and controller for Raspberry Pi (Also, 1 GBA outputting a video to another GBA)
