The menus in Mario Kart Wii run perfectly at 60 fps but whenever I get into main menu after you select Single Player the FPS goes down to about 40 and the audio is all messed up then down to about 20-30 when actually on the track driving. I don't know if it's an issue with my hardware or Ubuntu but it is kind of annoying. Same thing happens in Super Smash Bros Brawl menus at 60 fps when I do Solo Classic mode and fps goes down to about 30 fps.

Also running Ubuntu (14.04 x64) I don't have any problems. Comparing my settings to yours I only found 3 differences (mine are default I believe and work fine):
  • I have widescreen hack turned OFF
I have Skip EFB Access from CPU OFF
I have OpenMP Texture Decoder OFF

What I noticed from testing is that I shouldn't mess with any settings for Mario Kart: default settings work the best. Maybe try turning the configuration options I listed off and see what happens.

Are you using Noveau or whatever it's called rather than Nvidia's drivers? If so, switch if you want the best performance.

I tried them and it didn't seem to make much difference sadly. I'm thinking of reinstalling Ubuntu see if that helps at all. Just get a clean slate.

Yea I'm pretty certain I'm using the drivers that Nvidia provides and not Nouveau.

Just FYI, you should not be getting those speeds. Your hardware at stock is better than mine OC'ed at 3.8GHz. I just played both SSBB and MK Wii today myself, and neither slowed down on me like that (Slackware 14.1). Also your setting look fine to me.

Alright I've reinstalled Ubuntu 14.04 and got the latest Nvidia Drivers for my GTX 750 Ti and I still get same amount of slow down.

It's likely just the GPU going to sleep too often as usual. Try the Nvidia driver-related things in here: https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-unofficial-laptop-performance-guide
