Do the axes reach the edges of the boxes in the Dolphin pad config after you have manually configured it?

I have no clue why you need to manually configure the axes then.
You are clicking the button (for up/down/left/right), then afterward moving the pad's stick in that direction within the ~2 second wait period right?
You can't hold the axis in a direction before clicking the button.

Is this one http://www.raphnet-tech.com/products/gc_n64_usb_adapters/index.php?category=Adapters the only one that is still sold? I can't find the 3 in 1 anywhere, or anything else for that matter.
