I have a gamecube that hasn't been functioning for quite some time. When I try to play a game, the screen goes completely black and there is no sound or video and the reset button does not work at this point. I am able to hold A while turning the system on to go to the dashboard which works perfectly fine. There I can see the game disk being read and identified perfectly and if I try to start the game from there, the same black screen appears.

This happens for every disk I put in the console except for one. I have a demo disk that came with mario kart double dash and it almost works perfectly. The system will load the disk and take me to the menu which works fine. Inside this menu there are a bunch of game trailers that can be watched and some game demos that can be played. The trailers are able to be watched and play through without issue. If I try to enter a game demo, it goes back to the black screen.

Any ideas on what's broken? If I can remember correctly the system froze while I was playing a game and then was unable to start back up correctly. Due to the demo disk being able to play trailers, my guess is the GPU is fried.

LOL.

That's if they support the system with customer representation, which I'm sure they don't. It's like calling Microsoft about the original XBox(which I did do back in 07 and they didn't help me).

I think the heart of the problem lies with the lens, not the GPU. But maybe he is right. I had another GC once that didn't load any games at all, except once in awhile, and it always took me to the dashboard.
