If you have an XBox it's the best choice, as you don't have to hack anything (which you do with a ps3 controller), it has analogue triggers, a wireless adapter to connect it to a PC costs the same as a cheap (but functional) wired gamepad, and Windows supports it brilliantly: for other games, such as Skyrim, it's just plug and play. If you have one, it's the best choice. If you don't, it's still a pretty good choice.
