Hi everyone. I have been playing games on dolphin for a while using a gamecube wireless wavebird controller, using the n64/GC to usb adapter from raphnet.net. It has been working flawlessly up until my controller started going bad, so I decided to go and buy a used official nintendo wired controller. But now with this wired controller, every so often some buttons seem to get executed when I am not pressing them, or even pressing any buttons for that matter. Such as A will be executed when I am swinging on my grappling hook in Wind Waker. It is enough to make my game playing unenjoyable. I have confirmed that this is still present in games other than the wind waker, and I have also taken that controller back and gotten a different one, but the problem remains. I have also tested the controller on an actual gamecube (well, Wii) but the problem in not present there. So I know the problem is either with my computer, Dolphin, or my adapter. Has anyone else run into this problem or can offer me some insight? Is there some reason this isn't happening on the wireless controller?

My OS is Linux Mint 9, using Dolphin SVN R 6221

I have seen this effect before. Technically it is an incompatibility between the chip inside the adapter and the chip inside the controller. The incompatibility is a slight difference in the timing between the two chips ("the clock"). The difference makes the adapter think that a button has been pressed when it has not been.

Replacing the controller with one of the same make/model will not fix it because there is nothing wrong with the controller. Your options are to try another brand of controller or change the adapter. I'd try getting another brand of gc controller (another wavebird?) as you know that the adapter works well with wavebirds.

thanks for the info skid. I think I will try to fix my wavebird controller. It seems the on/off switch is the problem.

I have the same problem and I'm also using the Raphnet adapter. Every once in a while the A button seems to go off for no reason.

I've been using the standard GC controller and had this prob since day one. So you say the Wavebird works perfectly? I'll definitely try to get my hands on one to test out.

By the way, I wouldn't say the problem makes games unenjoyable, but it is a minor annoyance.
