Gamecube controller - do I need to go for the expensive USB adapter?

Yellow! In my first post I want to start by saying that Dolphin is a wonderful piece of software and I'm grateful and humbled by the people who work on it.

So now my situation is that I want to be playing Super Monkey Ball, a game where it is VITAL to have the joystick input be analogue - i.e. tilting the stick to the left slightly is distinguished from tilting it all the way. I presume the emulator is capable of this! (?)

I own a wavebird, so I'm thinking of getting a USB adapter. I've noticed the official (wii U) adapter is £35! But there are various cheapo ones for *significantly less*. Suspiciously less! Should I be avoiding them?

By the way, do have a wired 360 controller as well. Would Dolphin be sensetive to the tilt-amount coming from that thing? (if so I wouldn't actually need a gamecube adapter!)

A wired 360 controller is usable as an analogue controller.

The Mayflash adapter has official support in Dolphin under WiiU mode due to it outputting the same data as the official adapter.

I use a 360 controller and a Logitech F310 (like this more), and they both provide excellent analogue controls

If your goal is to save money use the 360 thing, if you buy a cheep GC adapter it will not use the wavebird. I think the Mayflash adapter, raphnet, and my adapter (see sig) are the only adapters that support it. The native GC support is the best option if you want the least amount of lag. All 3 adapter are well worth the money and support rumble as well.

Sadly for you, it seems my find a few weeks ago is now history.

They had them for £23.95 free delivery. I don't think anyone believed that they were real, a fresh delivery in March was just silly talk for an item out of stock since last year.
