Gamecube adapter not showing in device manager

I have an offbrand generic gamecube adapter that I want to hook up to my pc. It has working with both my wii U and my switch, but I cannot get it to be recognized by my pc at all, not even in device manager. I switched it to pc mode on the adapter but it still does recognize. Is there anything i can do about this or do I just need to get a better adapter?
