Hey guys
So I'm trying to play Xenoblade Chronicles on Dolphin, and I spent I don't know how many hours trying to make the game work..
And I finally managed to make it work with the textures.
Yesterday I changed the settings to "optimize" the game as much as possible, and it was finally perfect !
I had 30 Fps, and there was no problem and could play

and today I started the game and I haven't changed ANYTHING in the settings, and the game didn't work.
I mean the game started but then froze completely and I had no idea why because I have really not changed anything since yesterday.
So I changed the settings again and again and then the game (and idk why) finally worked again.
The problem is that now the game is stuttering so hard and the sound is also horrible and destroying my ears when the game is stuttering.
It works well for like 5-10 sec then I have huge fps drops with the sound being horrible and then it gets backs normal for a few sec

Does anyone have any idea what the hell happened ? I want to play again this game so bad but I feel like it's impossible lol
i'm sad because it was literally working perfectly and then something happened without me doing anything and now I can't play

thank you !
i'm sorry for my not so good english, I hope you understand me

my config : Core i7-4710HQ
Nvidia GTX 850M
8.00 Go

I just downloaded the 5.0-5667 version of Dolphin but nothing changed

DOn't set your Internal Resolution (Resolution interne) to Auto, set it to a number, like 1x, 2x, or 3x.

Thanks for you answer
Nothing changes whether I put it to 1x, 2x, 3x, I still have the same amount of stutters with each setting

edit : nevermind, Dolphin is just trolling me.
I was using DirectX and playing the game, then decided to switch to OpenGL, and there was no difference.
I switched back to directX, and the game wouldn't start and would just freeze (there is no reason since it worked with the stutters just before)
So I switched back again to OpenGL and this time it also didn't work.
So yeah, like I said the same happened yesterday : I was playing and it was perfectly fine, today I try again and change no settings and the game didnt work anymore

so the problem is simply Dolphin, not me or my computer since any other game works
i'm really sad to have wasted time on that and that I got hyped thinking I could play this game again

thank you anyways !

Do you have prefetch custom textures enabled under advanced?

Dont give up, try a fresh install of dolphin and try renaming your xenoblade ini file. I had a similar issue and it was something on that games particular ini file that was causing it. I have run Xenoblade on my Dolphin setup and it didnt run great but i didnt spend any time optimizing it. (I should be able to run it smoothly with my rig)
I am going to transfer it from my Wii hard drive to my PC again and have a proper go at getting it running good, ill let you know how it goes.

You are running this game on a laptop thus:

1. Be on AC and make sure your Windows power settings are set to High Performance (If you want to play this unplugged then this needs to be on as well.)
2. Download the latest driver for your GPU here (09-oct-2017): https://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/3...3-whql.exe
2. Make sure you have a Dolphin profile that is set to Prefer maximum performance and that it is set to use your GeForce
3. In GeForce Experience turn off Battery Booster
4. Make sure in Dolphin's settings that you are using the correct back-end and have the correct GPU selected
5. A great place to start with that with the settings for that machine would be: Hybrid Ubershaders + D3D and 2xIR without any MSAA or SSAA

For Xenoblade with UHD textures and draw distance/LOD patch that machine should be great, I have been running it on a similar machine since forever: Intel i7 4800MQ, Geforce GTX870m 6GB, 16GB ram.
For the UHD textures you DO need to select Prefetch textures in the settings (and I think you need a minimum or 8GB's of ram to prefetch although with the latest pack and the newest dolphin DEV version it should use a lot less because of the new compression tech DXT7) otherwise the game will have immense stutters even when running everything from a SSD.
Check my profile for up to date specs.

I re-installed everything like you said and then it worked fine. I mean it was not that good but way better than before, and I've been able to play !
I'm gonna do everything you said mstreurman, so hopefully the game will work even better (even if I'm already satisfied with it haha) so thank you for everything you said !
thanks a lot guys !!!
