Yes, overclocking usually helps a lot. As for price, well, everyone's opinion is different about what "expensive" is. Though if you want a low cost good CPU, try looking at Intel's Sandy Bridge line of chips. I think an Intel Core i3 2100 is good for its price. Also, don't forget about having a good GPU, else you'll be bottlenecked there.

Show me or tell me your configurations and what Dolphin version you are using. My specs are almost the same as yours, we both meet the miminum requirments. Some games run slow, like for example: Resident Evil 0. But, I found out that after using a different version of Dolphin emulator, the slow down seemed to stop. So, just search the forum or look up older emulators to see if it works for you. As for the person who said overclock, that's really like a LAST RESORT if you ask me. I mean if all the games work fine except for a 1 or 2. Then you shouldnt risk your PC, just for 2 games.Cool

You don't "risk your PC" if you overclock your CPU a little. If it's supported by the bios, it's farily safe, assuming you aren't entirely stupid.

But there other options for him to try out before he tries to overclock. Stop or disable programs and services they he doesnt use or need. Clean up his PC, and make his emulator run on a higher priority. And if you mean soft overclock? That's no problem, that's what I did to my PC. I thought you were talking some serious overclocking.Dodgy

Heres my configurations and Dolphin version I use to play Resident Evil 0.
Also, you might want to hit the tab Emulation and scroll down to you see
frame skipping. You can set it anywhere 1-4. As for overclocking, ask one of
the other members about that. I still wouldnt suggest you do that. Unless
you someone who knows how to do it for you. Dolphin version: Dolphin-win-x64-r7417.
