Hello,

I have a short question about the game speed..
Well with Dolphin r5461 it was possible to have the game run at 100% Speed but have the FPS a bit lower then the game actually need.

For example i had a game run with 15FPS, where it really needs 30FPS to run at 100% speed, but with 15FPS it still ran with 100%.

How is that possible with newer reversion emulators?
I tried a few things but not really a success to be honest.

I think its a simple click but i dont find it or do i have to play around with frame limiter n stuff?
i can remember it has something to do with Audio Throttle but well, it doesnt really work.

i thought myself:"This cant be THAT easy" and no it isnt.
Sure, the game runs faster now, but thats not what i wanted.

The gamespeed itself drops, when the FPS reach a point, where the game shouldnt run at 100%.

Like when the game runs at 100% with 30FPS, it now should run at 50%, when the FPS are at 15.
But what i want is, that the game has to run at 100% speed at 15FPS.
So no slowdowns in games, just have lower FPS at some points.

15 FPS full speed ? Impossibru!
NTSC Jap /US : 30 or 60 FPS
PAL : 25 or 50 FPS

Faster speed ? Overclock your CPU

THIS is what i want. 100% gamespeed with 15FPS, it just has less.. frames per second "fps" you know?

So yes, its possible and this was recordet with r5461

Your question doesn't make sense.
The % literally tells what the FPS is at.
If a game runs at 30FPS, it is at 100%.
15FPS is cutting it in half, and will change it to 50%.

Also, the video doesn't tell anything.
The persons PC is too slow to record it at fullspeed, that's why it drops to 15.
You can see it go up to 20ish at times.

If you really want to play with 15FPS, then limit your FPS to 15FPS.
That's as far as you can go.

Uhm, guys, chill out. He's not asking for ways to achieve fullspeed, nor does he ask how basic emulation works.

His request is as following: when your FPS drop, your VPS drop as well, which makes the game slower and less responsive.
Just play a PC game where your FPS aren't going to be steady - the FPS drop won't be as noticeable as on Dolphin, as there is no actual slowdown on the gameplay.
However, he wants to know if there is a possibility to stabilize/force the VPS to stay at 60/50 depending on if it's PAL or NTSC.

Sorry buddy, but I can't help you on this one. Was there any specific option you had to turn on with the 5461 build to make this work?

1.

* Turn OFF VSync in the Catalyst Control Center.
* Download GPU-Z, run the render test and see if the GPU load reaches 100%.
* Now run Dolphin. In the graphics settings, select the Direct3D9 backend, VSync OFF, 4xIR, no AA, 1xAF, disable audio throttle, set the frame limiter to 'Auto' and see if there's any improvement.

2.

Try this old revision of Dolphin (still newer than the one you're using): http://www.dolphin-emu.org/download.html...arch=win64

3.

Uninstall Catalyst 12.4 and install an older driver (Catalyst 11.11c Hotfix is the best driver for that card)

That's due to the fact that most PC games use frame independent motion, and most console games tend not to do so. I've explained the difference a couple of times, so I won't repeat myself. Google should help, however, in showing how PC games can have variable frame rates and still look smooth.

@RaZZZa Like Garteal said, the video doesn't really tell us anything. The video would have been more helpful if the VPS/gamespeed % were visible, but the whole thing was recorded in fullscreen, so that info wasn't seen at all. We don't really support old builds here on the forums at all. Is there any reason why you can't play this game with 3.0 or above? Using a newer rev might outright solve this issue, but you won't know until you've tried it. Your profile says 3.0-600, how does that compare to r5461?

Well let me make some things clear:

I used r5461 to record that game 1 or 1 1/2 years ago. i uploadet some parts and i thought, well time has passed, maybe a newer, better version of dolphin is avaible and let me test it there.
(The Video makes it very clear in my eyes, the game itself runs at 100% Speed, but just has 15FPS. The gamespeed itself DONT drop, when the FPS drops. When you know that game and know, how fast it runs at 100%, you will know Confused)

Well i downloadet the lastest version and configurated everything. Well went ok but the IR pointer was crap, so i waited some more weeks till this was finally fixed (in every game i tested it doesnt done that, what it was supposed to, but thats another story).
I tested the new emulator ingame and i saw a huge improvement. The FPS was way higher then they was in r5461 and i thought, i re-record the game from the last part i rendered on my PC.

Well yea it went good, i can actually play the game in every situation at 30FPS, no problem at all.
When it comes to record, it drops a bit UNDER 30FPS and the gamespeed drops. Thats just annoying and i have to thank "diaze" for his post.

Thats exactly what i want.

It was possible in r5461 so it might work for newer versions too, but dont found the option yet.

I test the things kirbypuff said when im home, im at work right now, but i will let you guys know, if it worked or not.

Till then, thanks for every response Smile

Edit: and btw, im changing the GPU soon, im buying a Radeon HD7850, but i dont think, that the GPU is a bottleneck, or is it?
