game setting

hello to all,
try in these days Dolphin. Some games run very nice on my (not so good) pc.

Have some question :
- Some games run better changing setting ?
- is there any per game setting ?
- is there database for 'best' setting ?

sorry for these question but i want to program a little tool, that identify
iso and autoselect best setting.
