Question
I remember like 1 year ago, Dolphin had separate config files for every game.
And, the ability to set revisions for every game. VERY IMPORTANT
What happened to that cool idea?

As you all know some games require different settings for them to function properly.
It would be nice to have separate settings for every game instead of having to change them manually every time.
For example. The widescreen hack is activated on GameCube games but for Wii games it isn't.

Also, it would be nice to have certain controller profiles be set to certain games automatically.
Like if you name the controller profile by the name or ID of the game.

That would be nice because some people don't have wireless wiimotes and are stuck using some kind of game-pads.

I am not aware if something like this already exists. If it does, can someone point me in the right direction please?

If this is still not out there, is it possible that someone makes it?\

Thank You!

That is very confusing and I couldn't get it to work.

You can open the game inis in a text editor by right-clicking on a game, selecting "Properties" and pushing the "Edit Config" buttons. (If that was your problem).

Anyway, that's the best option there is, at the moment. You may want to look at vlapkin's stuff, but idk how well it works and it's not officially supported at all.

Got it to work. Now I have Donkey Kong Country setup to disable "Widescreen Hack" and enable Auto "Aspect Ratio" Most games work fine with "Stretch to Window."

There should be an extended UI for game-specific config options accessible by right-clicking any game in the main window.

It should include audio, video and DSP options to improve usability.

New Game-Specific settings like Video Backend, CPU Emulator Engine, DSP Emulator Engine, Internal Resolution (if you change Emulator Engines for Compatibility, you often also need to reduce internal resolution to maintain game speed) and EFB copies should be easily accessible. This should apply for the most frequently used compatibility settings recommended in game Wikis.

Wiimote and CC-Pad Toolbar Buttons should also have a right-click context option allowing to quickly enable or disable Wiimote and GC-Pad to increase comfortability.

It was decided by the developers that Dolphin won't have this.

OK, but a huge chance for usability improvement is lost this way since almost every game needs different settings / backends / resolutions to run in perfect settings.

Mario needs LLE Sound and therefore a lower internal resolution on most systems.
Epic Mickey needs JITL experimental Recompiler, Sonic Unleashed has no Video in DX9 and needs DX11,
Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing needs EFB to RAM and almost every other Game needs a different setting.

So extended per game settings is an absolute must have, as long as emulation needs so many hacks to run perfectly. As you can see in the current development discussion of issue 5237, if not even the developers know what hack is needed for which game to work properly (maybe a developer-wiki could help here), how shall the end users know?

Of course, from a development perspective it would be more efficient to reduce unneeded things like a UI to a minimum but for the end user it would make a huge difference although maybe requiring a different settings architecture.

We know which of these hacks is needed for which game (bscly none unless there's an obvious bug), I was just wondering which could be removed without users going mad about it.
