Showing how the Galaxy S8+ Snapdragon 835 version runs every dolphin game I throw at it full speed with no framerate issues. I wanted to upload this video as I've seen lots of confusion on youtube with other videos showing slow speeds, but most of those are the shitty Exynos version of the S8 which is TERRIBLE for emulation! (My bad for the background noise! Forgot to throw some music over the video)

I've tweaked with the settings in dolphin to the point where I can play all games 100% speed for hours on end. There isn't one game I've tried that ran slow and wasn't playable, and I've tried many more gamecube games than what's shown in this video. Certain games run smoother with different settings. I'm running all these games at a higher internal resolution at 1.5x (960x792) instead of 1x (640x528). I can also get the same smooth framerates at 2x 720p (1280x1056) resolution in dolphin settings. My S8+ is running in performance mode at 2960x1440. I've done lots of testing and all PAL versions of the games run much smoother than NTSC versions. Thanks for watching and grab yourself a galaxy S8 for dolphin emulator full speed!! (SNAPDRAGON 835 VERSION ONLY!)

Yea um, we've seen this reported already. Please don't push this angle too much. Dolphin only uses the performance that is required to run a specific game. As such, just because you can get some games running fullspeed, doesn't mean you'll be getting most at fullspeed. Those selling the S8 as some wonder machine of emulation love to skip over just how demanding Dolphin can become. Getting Double Dash or Wind Waker running fullspeed at lowest settings is nice, but try running Rogue Squadron 3 or The Last Story if you want the S8 to eat a little humble pie. We went well into detail on these issues in our official response: https://twitter.com/Dolphin_Emu/status/855366890276794369

Also, your video was removed. EDIT: And it's been restored.

Um thanks, but many haven't seen this yet actually! My enthusiasm shall remain untempered.

Edit: And this video is to show that point #3 & #6 in that tweet is false Wink These tests have been done for hours with no slowdowns.

One, your link is dead.

two, which games are you playing?

99% of the time users are playing games that are incredibly easy to emulate, speeding up their videos, or just lying.

I would personally prefer it if you wouldn't tell users to go out and buy devices that have historically been awful for Dolphin. I don't think there has been a doubling in performance from the 820 to the 835, as well as a massive difference in consistent frequency. Smile

So please, stop this nonsense. I like how users will listen to some bozos play a handful of lightweight games and say a device runs Dolphin at full speed instead of listening to the two people who have been working on the aarch64 JIT personally tell a forum for years that there is no device consistent enough.

Now that your video is back up... that doesn't prove anything, or even demonstrate anything really. You can't see the FPS counter or hear the music. You can hardly even see the screen and what is going on! There is absolutely no way to tell if it is running fullspeed or not.

Also, you filled it in portrait orientation. Portrait. SHAME ON YOU!

EDIT: Actually, I showed the video to someone who has tested a lot on android, and they can tell it is dropping frames in many scenes. It isn't even running fullspeed the whole time!

Hey buddy, relax. If you want to delete my thread go ahead. I'm not a bozo first off. I'm showing games such as twilight princess can be played at full speed which many people would love to know. Thanks.

Wow, good to know the attitude of the people on this forum! LOL. The video is being fixed so it's not in portrait. Calm yourself.

Also if you're messing with emulation clock speed, this is all entirely invalid. That's a feature that breaks tons of games and causes massive frame drops in the games it doesn't break like your video is showing. Smile

Didn't mess with emu clock. And my video is showing these games are very playable (which is the point....), sorry if me saying "full speed" is over the top to your standards and offends you Big Grin

Our problem with this is that you are trying to mislead users.

Cencil Wrote:I've tweaked with the settings in dolphin to the point where I can play all games 100% speed

We know how this goes. You're running with reduced settings, running PAL games so fullspeed is fewer FPS, running only lightweight games and/or running in easy to run areas, on and on, and using that to create a narrative that the game runs fullspeed at every game. For example, you managed to get Twilight Princess running "fullspeed" - except as soon as you reach kakariko village it will slow down, and slow to a crawl in hyrule field. It's deceptive, and we're upset by this because we're the ones who will need to deal with the ramifications of this: users will believe this, buy the device, then complain here when it doesn't meet their expectations. The reality is far, far more complicated. It might be a fun experiment for you, but your exaggeration and simplification of this issue is going to cause a lot of problems for us.

To be clear, I was joking with the "shame" thing!
