I figured that moving the camera while paused would be impossible, but moving the camera like you can with the mouse doesn't seem to be part of the functionality of the original game considering that character models and terrain do not get completely loaded when you move the camera away from where the game camera is focused.
I know that you can move the camera with the keyboard and mouse, but it is very difficult to change the angle of the camera to the exact position I would want it to be in terms of how it is rotated. I can't say I know much about how the free look function is implement in Dolphin, but as it is, the free look camera cannot rotate on the plane that is perpendicular to where the camera is facing out from. An example of this type of movement can be seen in the old PC game, Descent, in which you can essentially do barrel rolls with the camera. In dolphin, if the camera angle is skewed a certain way by the game, everything is crooked when you look at it in free look, and it is almost impossible to straighten the angle of the camera out.
I don't really expect anything to come of this because the actual emulation part of the emulator is being focused on, but if it would take a minimal amount effort to implement the type of functionality I just described, maybe it would be included in future revisions. Sometimes visual designers will put a large amount of effort into something that is never going to be shown in-game in any way, and I like finding these things and taking screenshots of them. It's no big deal if they aren't perfect or anything, but it would be nice. If anyone knows another way to do this without actually being in-game to do it, I would greatly appreciate if you could enlighten me.
