Frame rate drop - Need mouse/keyboard input

Hello everyone,

I recently downloaded Dolphin (and have been enjoying so much), and I am facing a quite strange issue here.

While playing any game, I start with a smooth 60 FPS and everything is OK. After some minutes (2 or 3), the game starts to lag and the frame rate drops dramatically (from 60 to 10), also the sound start to stutter.

This is corrected instantly when I move the mouse or press a keyboard key and after the same period of time (2 - 3 minutes), the problem shows again. I need to do this every time the problem shows and every time it gets corrected by this.

Do you have any clue why this is happening and how can I correct it?

Thanks!

edit:

Operating System: Windows 7 x64
Processor/CPU: Intel i7 2630 2.00 GHz
Video Card/GPU: Nvidia GTX 460M
Memory/RAM: 8GB
Dolphin Revision Currently Using: 5.0-5604

Your computer is going into low power mode due to it thinking you're not using it.

If you set your power settings to high performance it should fix it. My old laptop did the same thing.

JMC47

I have it already on High Performance and disabled "Sleep", "Hibernate" and drive shutdown.

Thanks for the suggestions.

What about in the Nvidia Control Panel, do you have a High Performance profile for Dolphin?

Also, what are your CPU/GPU temperatures when playing Dolphin when it starts to slow down? it could be that your computer is overheating

I have a High Performance profile, and set the GPU power management to prioritize performance over low consumption. My CPU temperature is around 60° C, and GPU around 70°C when playing.

I found a workaround for this issue, I downloaded a software that keeps moving the mouse every 10 seconds when no input from the physical mouse or keyboard is detected. I can play smoothly always at 60 FPS.

However, I still don't know what is causing this issue.

It's likely some kind of computer issue - whether it's third party software installed by the OEM, some kind of hardware quirk (BIOS setting??????) or some setting we don't know about in Windows/NVIDIA, something is causing it.

I do believe it's outside of dolphin though.
