first of all, hi! thanks for the great work in wii emulation.

my specs: intel core i5 450 M 2.4ghz 3mb l3 cache
geforce 310M 1gb
4gb ram

its a laptop.

imagine monster hunter 3, new player, standing in the middle of village doing nothing. i can get to 90% speed most of the time but heres the catch. every like 5 or 8 seconds later, the frame starts to crawl until speed becomes 40-50% for 4 secs, then up again to 90%. happens almost everytime. tested on both xp 32bit and 7 64bit.

using 7590 rev as this one turns out to be the best in my specs. later builds behave the same except the speed is 70% normal, 20% when it happens.

and not just monster hunter 3, all games behave this way.

first suspect: antivirus and background apps, but disabled em all, still happening.

any help would be appreciated. Smile

Your laptop is overheating, throttling down, cooling down and throttling back up. You can find laptop coolers to place it on, but in the mean time just elevate above the surface you are playing on with books. Also, make sure you are playing on a hard and cool surface. If you are playing on a bed, that's the problem.
Main Laptop:
Dell XPS 17
i7 2720QM @ 2.2GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia GeForce GT 555M
Windows 7 64-bit

who would have thought a laptop would overheat when the CPU/GPU is at full blast?

Try to disable Dual Core

Disabling Dual Core will likely give him 40-50% always, but I guess he can try.

wow, without dual core option, the game is running without stutter, although cap somewhere at 80%. Smile
i am using a laptop cooler but it seems like dolphin isnt going as high as when i played a pc game "dungeon siege 3". where everything is 100 degree c, yea its hot.

thanks for the tips guys.

oh. offtopic, on xp, latest build, theres no problem with silent hill shaterred memories. but on 7, both latest 32 and 64 build of dolphin, i cannot see anything other than credit text. (most notably on first sequence where you have to fill a form). any idea why?

100 degree C ??? You could damage laptop with that temp . Try placing new thermal paste or sth
Btw my lappy doesn't go any higher than 70 degree C

update: this is the main culprit. i just found out that the cpu speed throttled to 1.2ghz when the temp reaches 90c. if all the way boosted to 2.6, silky smooth yet if constant, lappy will shutdown due to overheat.

gonna open up the laptop and clean whatever be cleaned. anyone has any tips to redo thermal paste on acer 4741g? im a bit skeptical on reapplying thermal paste.
